I would take Staal, but the Canes would really have to accept some chaff to make it happen. Like Clarkson AND Johnson. No way they do it.



As for Scuderi, I doubt the Kings are really expecting him to contribute, he's familiar and can be an additional coach on the bench. Player like him. I think they just really wanted Ehrhoff gone, and Chicago is the only one who thought he was worth it.

This sentence makes so much more sense in the OTHER direction.

In other fun Scuderi facts, there are now three teams paying him a third of his salary each...two for him to not be on the team.

The Canes probably want somebody younger. I think they may want a package around Lindberg and probably Kreider if they want to move Staal here. They also need to eat some of his salary. I just hope they stay away from trading for him.

I'm seriously having 2013 flashbacks with the Hawks right now. Ladd deal? Splashy, expensive, ultimately helpful. Ehrhoff move? Savvy. This one? How much of an upgrade is this? I didn't think they really needed much more. It's a pretty big shakeup to bring in four new guys to a team that really wasn't in awful shape to begin with. Playoff depth, yadda yadda, but it's Shero-itis. Gotta make the big move! Have to! All in! Screw the cost!

Yeah, it's not like I know better. Just weird to me that they felt the need to spend for three more forwards. I've become very cynical about rental deals, thanks Ray! But hey, this just makes me want them to bow out in the first round that much more.
