Riley had to put the Beats interests ahead of his affinity towards Wade.

If you have to choose between two players, for whatever reason, the younger guy will usually win.

It's bad business players see how wade was treated

He preaches loyalty and respect yet his is the 2nd player leaving feeling scorned and a sour taste and this was the most loyal player on the team

As for the actual business side wade is still good, and they could have easily found the extra 6 million, it wouldn't have been hard...ticket sales and wade merchandise will be gone and probably a lot of fans

I think they get Delly's bird rights in the sign-and-trade which they otherwise wouldn't have. And the Cavs also included the rights to Albert Miralles in the trade... but that dude is 34 and doesn't look like he'll ever make it to the NBA.

Edit: The Bucks also got $250k cash out of it

That was the response to saying it was a no brainer to keep whiteside. I cant see how you give up a 20+ ppg scorer and call it a no brainer. Even if they hold teams to 85 points, they still have to score 86 to win.

They still had scorers with Jordan

I said it was a no brained that if they had to choose between the two players to pay, they should have chosen Whiteside.

And at one point you cheered for a team that Riley cheered for. Woj is one of the most credible people on here and I don't doubt that Riley was hoping Wade would bounce. But Woj also said that Dallas was likely to sign Whiteside. I don't care how Riley is in your eyes, in South Florida he knows how to put together good teams - that's all I care about.

He's no worse than Dan Gilbert. And you keep mentioning Wade not being the highest paid player. I provided a very details AND accurate description on why it isn't. The Heat never pressured Wade to take a pay cut, he did it willingly so UD could stay.

Exactly....all the first offer crap aside, they offered him 40 million over 2 years.

He got 7 million more...before taxes....but, still didn't get that 3rd year.

Expecting Riley to bend over like Dan Gilbert did was not happening.

If he didn't bend for Lebron, he surely wouldn't for Wade.

Heat owner Micky Arison didn't go up to New York just to reinforce the previous offer Miami had on the table. I assume there's wiggle room. Now that the meeting's over, it's on Wade now. My combination of informed/educated/gut feeling is that it's 60-40 shot that Wade returns. Both sides have pushed this as far as it can go.
