That was like the Miami big 3, except half the star players were past their prime. Definitely not the same as what GSW did.

I don't have any problem with GSW signing Durant; I take issue with Durant signing with GSW.

Man, Cleveland fans have some rosy glasses. Anyone calling JR a blessing...wow. Nobody wanted him last time he was a free agent and he came crawling back to take less money.

I always thought JR was overrated but playing with Lebron has made him better IMO. He gives 110% effort on both ends now and he is just a different player. I said it was a pretty good move when he was traded (many didn't like the move), they got him for nothing and it worked out. The only times I dogged JR is when he made bonehead plays or got suspended. The streaky shooting is something you have to live with but he has learned a lot since being in Cleveland.

Nash was at the end of his career and was not joining a championship team. If I was a Suns fan, I would absolutely hate the move.

I would argue that Lebron screwed up big time by getting Wiggins traded for Love.

Nash was finished.

We just didn't know it...lol

But, was CP3?

You do recall that Nash was substitute because Stern, Cuban and Gilbert fucked you, right?

He's still a below-average SG in today's NBA. A great guy for sure, but just streaky and not really that good overall.

As different as making a trade vs signing a free agent. Very different. The Lakers gave up draft picks galore along with players in both deals, and would've given up even more in a CP3 trade.

This isn't about stacking the deck. This is about joining your enemy because you can't beat them.

It is not different when these guys are picking the Team they are going to by flat out telling the other Team there is zero chance they will stay after the year.

It's only different because it's your Team.

Howard is the exception.

Nobody is giving up assets for a half Season rental.

Love was an all star and the Lebron forced a trade for him. The fact that he isn't a good fit for the Cavs doesn't change the fact that they tried to stack the team by trading for an all star.

Lol at blaming the Knicks for JR. I'm sure the Cavs had no choice in the matter.

They "threw him in the package", Lebron even mentioned that. Lebron was like "ok, they are going to throw in JR lol". It's just funny people after the fact say stack the team, Lebron comes and an All-Star who played on a terrible teams joins him. He gets criticized from day 1 saying he doesn't belong and now it's stacking. Ohh well...he still wasn't a top 3 player and joined a rival that already was the best team. Still a different situation whether you want to believe it or not.

A top 5 or top 3 player wants to play for your team, you're not gonna say no. Even after going 73-9. Him choosing the 73-9 team is the problem.

i actually thinkt hatt he Lakers have spent more on the cap during its history than the Cavs if i am not mistaken.....the Cavs though have spent over double what the Heat have spent though- again- if i am recollecting correctly.

Bird Rights. Easier to do when your team was assembled on contracts. Nearly impossible to spend that money on 3 max players and veteran players filling out your roster. This is not a hard concept to grasp.

Yes streaky, but he shot 39% and 40% his last two years. The Cavs needed a shooter specifically and he filled his role while playing good defense. He doesn't need to be more than average

Again, I have no issue with teams stacking their rosters. I have issues with players joining their main competition.

Lakers should've known not to invest in a 38 year old Nash with back issues. Stupid stupid stupid. They would've been better off sticking with Sessions for chrissakes. I'm well aware of the circumstances, still a dumb move made with Dr Buss on the decline.

The other thing to consider here, is that If the Love trade never happened, the Cavs might not have gotten JR. Even if they did, it would have been more likely that they let him walk last year in FA. Literally everything the last 2 years would have been different, and Cleveland may not have a title right now.

Well he did accept Lebron back after writing a terrible letter about him. So it isn't surprising lol
because he checked his ego at the door for the betterment of the team....and he has the biggest check book in the league. You combine those 2 things in an owner and you are pretty damn lucky.

He gets criticized because he's the one stacking the team. No one knew at the time that Love wasn't going to be good fit. So, he was still trying to stack the deck by trading for an all star.

Okay.

I get that.

It would be like Magic joining the Celtics.
