Maybe Miami learned from the Lakers lesson given that Kobe somewhat delayed the rebuild given his monster contract. The most Miami can give him right now is $20 mil per year without having to start trading players.

I hear what you're saying. it wouldn't make any sense to hamstring future efforts in Miami because he simply wants more money. imo he has to understand where the team's at now...

'sides, I doubt VERY seriously if he's hurting for that extra 10 mil...

I completely understand Heat fans not wanting to over pay for Wade...

but last year at this time all we heard from was "Wade knows that Riley will take care of him next year. He will sacrifice. The Heat are a family. We take care of our own".

Maybe there's some disconnect between what each side thought was an unspoken promise... and maybe its Wade that got things twisted... who knows.... but its not hard to see how Wade could be pretty pissed at Riley.

Only backlash I see is coming from OKC fans, a clown aka Stephen A Smith, and some Cavs fans.

I'll continue to stand by my opinion, and the fact that FA's can go wherever they want for whatever reason they choose.

I've read some of the articles saying why he was frustrated with some things there, and often Westbrook.
I believe the part where Nike wanted change. Same thing happened with James in Miami.
He gave that franchise 9 seasons before leaving after a frustrating loss.
If I recall, James left the Cavs after 7 seasons after a frustrating loss.
It's his career, as it was James and everyone else.
I'm sure they all weigh the pros vs the cons then make a tough decision that they and they're families are willing to live with.

I always knew that playing with Westbrook was frustrating from Durant's end. He was the better player, but often times Westbrook essentially stalled the offense so he could go ISO. Sometimes it worked out as he was on fire, other times he was taking erratic shots that was taking opportunities away from Durant. One thin he'll enjoy playing with Curry is that at least Curry's more aware.

With Durant going to the Dubs, we probably won't see much of those 30-foot shots as much. Durant chose to want to win. Maybe OKC shouldn't have nickel and dimed that roster so they could stay under the salary cap until this past season. If they still had Harden, Durant may have a ring on his finger right now.

I have no doubt Ray Allen can put the ball in the hoop. My concern with him would be whether he can keep up on defense.

That said... I'd welcome him on the Cavs bench with open arms for the vet minimum.

Most of us are leaning that way. Personally, I say give him the 2-years $40 mil. Work out another deal once that contract is up when he's 37 (maybe 1-year $15 mil). He knows the Heat will keep him and offer him a fair deal down the line.

Maybe Miami learned from the Lakers lesson given that Kobe somewhat delayed the rebuild given his monster contract. The most Miami can give him right now is $20 mil per year without having to start trading players.

Still depends on Bosh, which both Wade and Riley know the answer.

It sucks we didn't get Durant, but his decision directly gives us the opportunity to tank for a year, which will help us long term, which should be what matters.

If it just means losing McBob to keep Wade happy, then just do it.
That would free up 25M for him now.
Give him that on a 1 year.
Even do the 50/2 IF there is a TEAM option.
Longer then 2, no way at that average price.

I have always been and will always be firmly in the "let the grown make whatever decision he wants to make for him and his family" camp.

I won't criticize Durant for it and I will never attempt to make any connections between his free agency decisions and his character.

But the fact is... this move has divided and will continue to divide the vast majority of NBA and sports fans into 2 camps. "Warriors" and "Not-The-Warriors". Not too dissimilar to what we saw in 2010-11.

Warriors fans shouldn't care at all about that, of course.... they got freaking Kevin Durant. And the mass hate can actually make things more fun.

But any of you that aren't seeing backlash are either going out of your way not to see it or must be operating in very small circles when it comes to sports.

Lebron went back to join a younger super team that formed in Cleveland. Not much different than what KD did except that KD went to a core that proved it could win. KD's the older of all of the players so it was a smart basketball move and he wanted to win.

A 41 year old who has been out of the league for 2 years?

I wouldn't mind having him if his role to only be on the court for the last 3-4 minutes of the half if needed.

Not at all sure why he feels the need to come back (if he does).

Yeah, I agree. I wouldn't have any expectations for him.

But to have him on the bench as a locker room guy and as someone who can run out in a pinch and be a shooting threat.... is worth a vet min contract. Nothing to lose. I don't think the Warriors or Cavs are running low on roster spots at the moment.

LOL @ Miami fans. When James left in 2014. Bosh got a max 5 year $118 million deal and to help Miami sign players Wade took a 2 year $31 million deal and he has sacrificed his whole career in Miami. If you don't want to pay the man what he is due then that is total disrespect to the guy that whole you 3 championships and sacrificed a lot of money to get some of those championships. Fuck Riley. Fuck the Heat fans that are complaining he wants to get paid.

Man NBA is the laughing stock of sports right now. Everyone is seeing how screwed up the system is in the NBA. Sucks to see it go down hill like this. Big Basketball fan but the last 3-5 years its become a joke. They need a lock out to fix a lot of the issues.

Like I said I wont watch much this year because its pointless but I will watch some of the playoffs and watch most of the Conference finals and Finals.

Man I miss the good days where you had stars battle it out and multiple teams had a shot. Now its Cleveland(whatever team LBJ is on) in the East and Spurs or GS in the West. No other team has a shot. I dont care what anyone says. East got better that is for sure but all that does is instead of Cavs winning in 4 or 5 games it will get pushed to 5 or 6 games now. LBJ has never had a Rival. Thats what sucks about his legacy and he has a losing finals record. Weird. I know the Rival thing isnt his fault but losing that many Finals is. People was hoping it was going to be the Bulls or Indy but it just never happen. Bulls got hurt and Indy just declined.

Younger? Nah about the same and like you said it was their first season together as a Big 3. The Warriors have been together many year, won a title, back to back Finals, Curry back to back MVP's, just won 73 games and the best team in the NBA. Miami was not like that before Lebron got there lol

Thompson 26
Green 26 --- Bosh 26
Curry 28 ---- Wade 29

And btw KD is 27, Curry is 28

Wade CHOSE to opt out even though he knew James was leaving, and kept that info from Riley. That's on him.

Difference between Wade and Bosh was and still is that Bosh was in DEMAND.
He had another max offer. That is 100% leverage.

Wade, up until last year missed way too many game for someone to invest long term cash in.
Now, he's just too old.

And don't forget, he WANTED 3/45 a year ago.
If he took the 2/40, hes banking an extra 15M.

I understand the market might make him rethink his position/worth, but if so, then quit bluffing/whining and go to where you feel 'respected'.
Like they all say, its business.

Bottom line is the Heat is offering him something fair now, and there is no reason to believe that they wouldn't give him some type of 'fluff' contract at the end of his career.

Miami doesn't have any money left you stupid fuck. They're offering him all the money they have left. What is so difficult to comprehend?
