i'll be honest, i'm not all that interested in Rubstov. Seems like a bottom 6 guy to me. I'd rather go boom/bust for a top 6 scoring threat.

I think we will take our highest rated remaining player at 18, regardless of position. Yes, we need a big, scoring winger, but we can always trade for one at a later date if we have too many young defensemen in our system.

IF the Flyers don't move up...take whoever is the best player on the board. If they Flyers move up...there is clearly a target and we will learn about that as it happens. If the Flyers move down...there had better be a big freaking return.

So what is Hextall's plan on getting us to the next level? What's going on with our goalie situation? Personally, I would like to roll with both of them and keep Stolarz down for another season.

In my mind I see it as Mason and Neuvirth battling for the starters job here next season. Whoever wins gets an extension. When one of the two walks Stolarz comes up as backup for 2 years before taking over. In the meantime Lyon starts for the Phantoms once Stolarz makes the Flyers. Sandstrom, Tomek, and Fedotov are too for out and too far down the pipeline for me to even project.

This would be best case scenario IMO

That's my thinking as well.

With size, speed, a good shot, shoot first mentality and ranked in the top 10 to start the season, Julien Gauthier should be a no-brainier if he's still on the board.

I would love to trade up to get him we need that size badly.

He may still be on the board for our pick? Truth is that if the FLyers scouts and Hextall see him as the top player on their board, I think they would try and move up. Hextall isn't shy about moving up for a player they really like.

NHL Draft Profiles 2016 - Grand, Mauvaise Bruin
I posted an article on here somewhere that was saying that Boston is going to take him with the 14th selection .I just read a mock today that has us passing on him an the Islanders taking him one slot after us. If not him we need to get someone with size we sorely need it.

I wouldn't put much stock into that. The guess is the exact blueprint that the Flyers need and historically would draft in a heartbeat. He's big and will probably bulk up more at the NHL level, he's a winger, which we desparetely need, and he can score. If he is sitting there at our pick and the Flyers have him rated as the top prospect on their board, they take him.
On another note, I'm curious what Bill Meltzer's take is on him? I like his insight a ton.

I'm really not concerned with size too much, I just want speed and offense. Gauthier having size is just a bonus to me. It's his goal scoring and willingness to drive the net that I like. In all the mocks i've read, probably 50% of them having the Flyers taking Gauthier.

We need more size as Wayne Simmonds cant be in the box half the game sticking up for the little guys as he has done in the past. The speed and offense is just a bonus to me.

Yep.. And I think Hextall probably loves him. I would like this pick a lot.

22nd in the league during the regular season
16th in the playoffs

in goals for per game. can't win like that. they've got the set up men (giroux, voracek) they have the net presence (simmonds), but they don't have anyone to take a dangerous initial shot up front. that's what i want.

We were 22nd in the regular season largely due to a slow start and Jake having a terrible season along with Hak sticking a full half of a season with Umberger. We were 16th in the playoffs due to Gee being hurt and Coots out. Our second half offense was phenomenal from the all star break on.
