First things first. Pitching status. I hate to start the 2nd half without Yu and Kela. Maybe Derek and Colby will follow shortly.

Colby won't be around till August. Not sure how many more starts they'll want for Darvish. Kela should be close I would think.

I want a trade just to keep Chi Chi and Nick from starting any more games...please keep them off the mound.

I wonder who JD is targeting.

Im not in the medical profession, but can someone explain why a lat strain requires at least 60 days off? Seems like a long recovery period for a pulled (or even slightly torn) back muscle for a professional athlete like Colby Lewis.

That muscle is a major muscle and it is involved in every single motion when he pitches. Depending on the severity of the strain it's not surprising.

Do you get it from overuse or not properly stretching?

Hard to say. Not having a proper warm up/stretch is always a possible culprit. Sometimes shit just happens. Mechanics get a little funky and you can strain something.

Buy low on the Rich Hill or high on Sonny Gray. If we part with Profar, a guy I really like, I hope we get a pitcher that is worth it. Wonder if there is any way, we find a way to extend Desmond over break. Love to happen but a total longshot IMO. How will we shed cash?

Still wondering about JD's interest level in one of Pomeranz, Odorizzi, or Santana. Santana could probably be had without giving much up depending on how much salary were willing to pay. I actually wouldn't mind having him as our #4-#5 for the next couple seasons. He'd add some stability to that aspect of the rotation.

As for shedding salary? I think if they keep Profar, Elvis has about 70% odds of being traded. I pray Prince continues his recent uptick through the rest of the season to somewhat recoupe his value so it's not in the red entirely. If I he can, I'd imagine we do our level best to dump him for anything. Well still have to eat salary, but maybe we can dump 9mil/yr. maybe it's just wishful thinking.

I think Santana is cheaper and you really know what you get and he will eat innings. We just can't keep putting Cheech and Nick out there and get such a beating. I also wonder if we get a SP if JD slips in and gets a relief guy too.
I missed LeClercs last outing but heard he was pretty wild. Has good swing and miss stuff. Probably not quite ready but our options are currently limited

Anyone going to watch the all star game? Probably not me. I can't imagine cheering for Donaldson or Encarnacion to hit a game winning HR.

I think he goes out and gets a guy for the pen that's not even on our radar. Our scouts are really good at finding guys with major potential who have pretty average numbers and then letting our coaching staff tweak them to end up with some really solid relief pitchers.
