They didn't play anything perfectly. They just got lucky that LBJ is from Ohio and wanted to win a title for his state.
say LEBron didnt come back because Arison spent a ton of money and Wade helped lebron more and riley gave lebron more credit

gmafb. LeBron never even considers coming back if the CAVs couldnt of put Irving and Love and Thompson around him with and had an owner who shelled out the most dollars in league history the last 2 years.

Na dude. Lebron was plotting his return to Cleveland since Miami won their title in 2012.

lebron isnt within MILES of Cleveland if the cavs take williams and knight like many pushed for instead of irving and thompson----- and if they didnt have the assets to get kevin love....gmab....no way does lebron comeback if he wouldnt have been in position to contend if not year 1 then very very soon thereafter. thats just common sense.

im just saying you gave away a pick to save money- exactly what you did with joel anthony too

Im just saying that OFTEN times when teams makes a decision that include saving money, it isn't just to save the money.
There are penalties that were put into place for a reason.
Staying under the cap is PRUDENT unless you NEED to be over it.
Keeping Bird to keep a round 2 could never classified as PRUDENT vs being a non cap offender.

Tell us again why Mozgov and Delly are gone if you are going to carry on with this crazy argument.

Minnesota is the best example as they havent made the playoffs in well over a decade-

but no one in their right mind would possibly pick Miami's roster and picksit uation over Minne's, Bostons or Philly's right now- or the Lakers, or really- a handful of other teams.

I mean- even John Wall, and Beal- id rather have just those 2 then the Heats core-

Giannis, Jabari Parker, Khris Middleton, Thon Maker- not a contest. especially when you consider Miami has dealt away 2 future first rounders and multiple 2nd rounders into the future.

Nobody said pick ROSTER, I'm saying compare total PICTURE.

the Cavs are a great example of what tanking and renting out your cap space can do.....i mean- they played it perfectly

tank- get astud to build around in Kyrie- get a ton of assets totrade foranother stud- K Love---- and show all that to free agents- to convince them to come play here-lbj . get some high end support players like Tristan...

they played it perfectly.

Stop with that nonsense already.

It was good BUSINESS for James to go back, both personally as well as spiking new sales with Nike.
Unless "played it perfectly" = sucking for years, having a dumb ass owner who would write a letter like he did, and being lucky with lotto balls is your definition of a plan, then I firmly disagree.

Philly been a shit team since 2012. Probably won't be playoffs contenders until 2019. Hard to be patient for 7+ years.

Minny is different because you're seeing the win total grow. They went from 16 to 29 wins in one season. I fully expect them to be mid 30's this year and over .500 next year. That is progress.....not that garbage that's going on in Philly.

i mean- yah- that is pretty much exactly what happened

they decided to go into the tank- traded everything they had for picks, lost, lost some more- lost some more, rented out their cap space for more assets, lost some more, got as many ping pong balls, young assets and draft picks as possible- and when they were done collecting - had a ton of cap space, young talent and draft assets. Pretty much exactly what OKC did, what Philly is doing- etc. what Miami should have done starting after lebron left.

minnesota hasnt made the playoffs for - i believe- the longest streak current streak in north american sports. philly has won a playoff if i am not mistaken- perhaps multiple since minne even played a playoff game.

Yeah but since Wiggins got drafted followed by Towns last year, you're seeing improvement. I have to think they'll be winning 43+ games by next season once those guys along with Lavine continue to improve at the rate that they are.

Seriously?
The fact they hired Blatt tells you 100% they weren't planning or plotting for James to come back.
It was just a freaky combination of events mostly including Gilbert handing over the team to the man he had called a quitter amongst other lovely things.

The year after James leaves you'll be wearing a Bobcat jersey.

id have to go Oden just because of the expectations....benet's draft was historically bad and its notli ke anyone in the top 7 of that draft makes you say- WOW- they blew that pick and should have got player X.

Oden was supposed to be the next Hakeem---- and picked right after him was Durant.

Oden's career was injury plagued.

He never got a dnp-fat, his ROOKIE CONTRACT bought out.

Yes, that was a shit draft class. Doesn't stop him from being the biggest turd historically.

He didn't get injured, have substance issues that derailed his potential....He simply sucks.

Oden and Bowie can at least say " maybe if I were healthy things might have been different".

What's Bennett gonna say?

" Maybe I should have laid off the triple decker cheeseburgers "?

of course they werent gonna assume LeBron was coming back. All they could do was clear as much cap room as possible, acquire as many assets as possible, put together as many good young players as possible- and sell that to LeBron.

Luckily they did enough of that- sold LeBron on playing with Love and Irving as better and younger fits then Bosh and Wade- and to play for an owner who would not cheap out like Arison.

The rest is history. LeBron went to 4 straight Finals and won 2 titles and left Miami without a 2nd thought and kept on going while Miami has sunk into irrelevance.

Minnesota hasn't made the playoffs since 2004. They're 2 and 5 now, early days but still looks like another lost season for them this year.
