My first Summer here, I fainted.....

While riding my Motorcycle...lol

Thank God I was at a red light.

People in Arizona are a lot more honorable than Cali.

I still had all my clothes on, wallet, ID when I woke up in the back of the ambulance...lol

The cops did take my gun out of my backpack though.

I learned very quickly why most people to without a helmet in July.
I'm sorry for laughing but that is some funny sh@!.

But one might argue that based on Jeanie's recent leadership she does have the control & is the most level headed. I'm sure if they do die she will make sure his kids are taken care of.
she cant though. unless she is the LAST survivor....

and even then- gift tax is 40%

my point is- when you are dealing with billions of dollars potentially- its not about- ohhh they will be taken care of--- these are people with huge egos with hundreds of millons of dollars on the line and their is quite a bit of enmity between at least a few of them.

I mean- this is kind of my area of expertise here....im just saying.

I am not even saying that jim and john can break the trust and force a sale- i think that will be the issue- i am telling you why it is greatly in their interest to do so- its the difference between 330 million dollars EACH and possibly zero.

I was.........concerned in the beginning.

But, we haven't had any issues.

Here is the thing about Arizona that I like:

People don't hide their biases.

So, you don't need to guess where you should or shouldn't go, who you should and shouldn't associate with.

It's quiet and you get way more bang for your buck in the housing market.

Plus, anyone over 21, without a criminal record, can buy , carry and conceal any firearm they like without a permit.

That shit keeps crime down...lol
Yes I can see how all of those things are pros- but now that they're rounding folks up & asking for papers it just ain't safe these days! Some of my family members weren't born here- and I'm not sure of their citizenship status!

How can any human creature live there in the summer? I thought it got hot here in Sac during the summer when it reaches 100+ often, but Arizona in the summer?? Jesus...
It is 105 at 2a.m. here in July and August.

Brutal!

When it gets 115-122...we go back to Cali because it's unbearable.

I didn't say anything about making them part owners of any kind. Taking care of his kids can come in the form of money or other property. I would imagine if Dr. Buss was smart enough to set up the family business this way for after he was gone that there is also trust accounts for his grandkids. It would only make sense.

Yeah.....

It was actually worse here BEFORE the Presidential election.

Have you ever heard of Sheriff Joe Arpaio?

He was running illegal roundups, despite a Federal injunction to cease and desist.

They voted his ass out and he might be going to jail.

i wouldnt be surprised- but you are over simplying stuff that is unbelievably complicated.

here is just a small portion- just one issue- is the estate tax liability....

when Dr. Jerry died- the 66% share of the Lakers was probably worht about a 1 billion.....he has to pay a 40% tax on everything over 5.45 million dollars.

now- you can set that up where you pay the 40% estate tax over a term of 10 years--- i just helped on a similar transaction (albeit much smaller) for a 50 million dollar piece of property

so- in order to pass down the Lakers from Dr. Buss to his kids- his estate has to pay probably at least 400 million in taxes.....i would imagine they are paying that out of the Time Warner revenue.

So- whenever the next generation dies- say all the Buss kids die besides 1--- and they have the sole share of 66% of the Lakers- which is now valued at 2 billion...

in order to pass that share down- they need to come up with another 800 million- or be forced to sell the team to pay the estate tax.

when you are dealing with sums of money on that level- these people hire firms like mine- to figure out how they save and pass on assets worth hundreds of millions of dollars. its not a simple transaction- where you just say- well - the kids are taken care of

and even if they are- do oyu think Jim Buss and Johnny Buss are just going to be like- sure- my share is worth 330 million EACH- but im just gonna let that lapse at my death......

i mean cmon now.

Arizona is another place I refuse to go to- let alone live. My Latina heritage won't let me do it!

Again- I said taken care of in terms NOT related to PASSING down the business. THAT isn't complicated. Most families do take care of their own which is why they have generations of wealth.

Wiggy- you make things here so complicated. Who wants to break down how that particular asset would be passed down, other than the people trained & hired to do so? The great thing about us is we don't HAVE to even think about that aspect of it.

But because you spend so much time trying to post novels that you think make you look smarter than everyone else here the simple stuff zips right on past you.

Sorry for the double post. Let me warn you there may be several more as I continued to hit "post reply" when nothing happened the first time. Oops....

im just saying because its the difference between Jeanie maintaining a controlling interest or no longer having majority control which would then go to this Anschultz guy who is chairman at AIG- then no big deal--- i can definitely see that some people dont care who owns the team
i think its apretty big thing. Maybe you dont think so- if not- no big deal.

i mean- this is the DIRECT QUOTE from Janie Buss:

“This is something huge and it’s not going to go away. They’re trying to bust the trust so they can sell their [interests],” younger sister Janie Buss says. “And if they sell, that’ll leave the rest of us in a minority.”

its just not simple though. not in the slightest. I have been through 7 years of higher education and probably only understand about 5% of it- IF THAT MUCH- probably less.

my point is- that how it works out will determine if Jeanie Buss and her side stays in control- or if they break the trust and a majority interest is transferred to another party- who is this Anschultz go who has the right of first refusal if Jimmy and Johnny can break the trust.
