I can see why. Shit gets depressing. And that's from someone who just lived in San Antonio not too long ago.
I was in both places.

San Antonio was alright, except for those big ass bunny rabbits.

Seattle was harsh because we lived in a Tent City for 30 days.

By the 10th day, I was seriously considering trying to build a fucking Ark.

Best thing about the place was the ability to catch the ferry to Canada.

I wonder if I'm still banned from the Victoria Clipper ferry?

AEG Chairman Philip Anschutz, who owns Staples Center, the Kings and 27% of the Lakers, has the right of first refusal if the Buss family wants to sell the franchise, according to spokesmen from both AEG and the Lakers. Buss purchased the team in 1979. Other owners include Patrick Soon-Shiong with 4% and Ed Roski with 3%. The Buss family owns the remaining 66%.

So, it doesn't seem a sale is likely, according to a statement released Monday by family members.

"It was our father's often stated desire and expectation that the Lakers remain in the Buss family. The Lakers have been our lives as well and we will honor his wish and do everything in our power to continue his unparalleled legacy,"

Lakers expected to remain a Buss family-owned team
yah i saw that from Monday- it seems things are moving fast right now....who knows how this goes....

the thing that i thought was interesting is that how the trust structures the ownership of the team is basically a "tenancy in common".

There are basically two ways to pass down something like this----

A. You give a share to all 6 kids- and if one of them dies- their share goes to their specific grand kids (per stirpes

or

B. You give a share to all 6 kids- and if one of them dies, their interest lapses, and the share of the 5 surviving children increases- basically leaving a "last man standing" as the owner of the team.

So- from what i have read- if tomorrow- everyone but Jim Buss died in a terrible accident- he would be the sole owner of the Buss' 66% interest in the team.

that presents problems- obviously - for the 2 older Buss children- Jim and John- who know how much the Lakers are worth- and if they die first- which- most likely they will since they are older, and they are male- there kids dont get any share of the team.

So - i can see why they are trying to do what they are trying to do- whether or not they will be allowed to- is certainly up for debate.

That's a old article from right after Dr. Buss died.

I quoted it because you wanted to know who the other owner is.

It kinda makes me think the issue of trying to sale the team has been raised before.

i think as long as Jim was happy he was fine.

another great article is by Ramona Shelbourne that posted on ESPN a couple hours ago- read it- its truly unbelievalbe- i posted it on the other thread.

it says how- weeks after Magic was hired as a consultant- Vlade called him about a potential Cousins trade- Magic said he did not have authority- and to call Jim and Mitch- and Jim and Mitch never even bothered speaking to Magic or Jeanie about it--- or about any other deal- like Lou Williams- or working out Larry Sanders

I read the link you posted for Lad.

No wonder they removed that cancer mid season.

If the lakers are worth 3 billion- as Forbes just said- and the Buss' own 66%- thats obviously 2 billion

2 billion / 6 Buss kids = each interest is probably about/a little over 330 million dollars.

the most interesting thing i saw was the fact that its not a "per stirpes"- meaning the grand kids dont inherit the kids' shares of the Lakers. The kids' share lapses.

I think that makes too much incentive for the two oldest to sell.....basically the last living Buss child gets the whole team. I dont like that- i think that creates too much incentive for conflict.
I actually don't see a problem with it. IMO provides motivation for the grand kids to "work" their way into the business rather than just having it handed to them via an inheritance.

Living in Phoenix is rough... been 75 and sunny here the past 4+ weeks, ugh. :D

I have my US citizenship. I was a dual-citizen at one point. Couldn't have that though if you want government clearance.
Yea a lot of folks that are citizens were being hemmed up in airports after trying to return from abroad. I'm just sayin it's probably not a good idea to leave right now.

Rest assured I won't murder one of my favorite players and a player I highly respect.

The only reason I come off as hating LeBron, is because his genitalia is dislodged so far down your throat that your heartbeat could make him cum.

It's getting weird.

Sometimes I don't feel like driving to and from Zona to Cali.

So, we fly.

The last 2 times they actually made me show Identification for my kids.

That's unusual.

Maybe kidnapping is on the rise?

Guessing those 4 months you aren't there are during the summer? Smart, smart.
My first Summer here, I fainted.....

While riding my Motorcycle...lol

Thank God I was at a red light.

People in Arizona are a lot more honorable than Cali.

I still had all my clothes on, wallet, ID when I woke up in the back of the ambulance...lol

The cops did take my gun out of my backpack though.

I learned very quickly why most people to without a helmet in July.

Arizona is another place I refuse to go to- let alone live. My Latina heritage won't let me do it!

But one might argue that based on Jeanie's recent leadership she does have the control & is the most level headed. I'm sure if they do die she will make sure his kids are taken care of.

I was.........concerned in the beginning.

But, we haven't had any issues.

Here is the thing about Arizona that I like:

People don't hide their biases.

So, you don't need to guess where you should or shouldn't go, who you should and shouldn't associate with.

It's quiet and you get way more bang for your buck in the housing market.

Plus, anyone over 21, without a criminal record, can buy , carry and conceal any firearm they like without a permit.

That shit keeps crime down...lol

How can any human creature live there in the summer? I thought it got hot here in Sac during the summer when it reaches 100+ often, but Arizona in the summer?? Jesus...
