Yep. At this point, it's about being competitive which shows improvement, but we don't want to be winning too much.

What has become very obvious in games like this is that the Lakers need a closer. They had a great shot at winning last night, but just couldn't get that one more bucket and/or make that one more play to get them over the top.

Hopefully, the kids show enough that a top FA will be interested in coming to LA to be the closer. That, or maybe one of them develops into a closer. Right now, they look like a team that knows how to compete, but not how to win.

The Lakers need a closer, what is this baseball? Anyway if your Lakers need someone to finish games maybe Lance Stephenson will be available this summer? There's no question he knows how to get in LeBron's head & mess his game all up.

Bojan Bogdanovic

Yep & his logic w/ this guy playing good or bad in every other game is kind of flawed. He didn't do well in the last Raptors game (although he only attempted 5 shots) but did relatively well in all other games except his Wizards debut vs the 76ers. That was his first game w/ the team & many players don't do that well in that situation due to being tired, nervous or just not used to playing w/ new teammates. He also only took 5 shots during that game. I am not saying that he will be great but he is showing encouraging signs & let's wait a while to make a complete judgment.

You also can't use his stats w/ the Nets as a comparison. That is w/ a completely different team & he didn't have the benefit of playing w/ some players like on the Wizards who perhaps can elevate his game. As for not being a good defender - so what. Guys are on the bench for a reason - even if his defense is subpar his pts might at least be enough to let the bench stay even on the scoreboard and not lose leads in games like their previous bench had been doing at times prior to this trade.

His logic in almost every conversation is flawed.

@WiggyRuss
I thought Whiteside was guaranteed to be the one to meltdown?
Seems like your namesake is the one who cant control himself during the losses.
well as you so certainly know- i offered to bet you that very same thing before the season started and you were reluctant to do so- even going so far as to tacitly acknowledge the possibility by saying "who cares" if he does....so...lol....joke seems to be on you.

How is joke on me?
I predicted/hoped Whiteside would become elite, and he is.
All I cared about.
I didn't bet, because as you stated, I didn't care if he got suspended or not depending on situation.

He's been more then what even hoped for IMO.

Bottom line is, he finally gets it.

You said the day he got paid, would be the last day he cared.

You still stand by that?

His next contract will be 200M+

Self-awareness is a very valuable trait to have - particularly in this instance. Bagging on someone for not taking a bet, when you yourself stated that the Cavs would be up by 30 by the end of the third quarter tonight. Then not take a bet from a poster who bet you that the Cavs *wouldn't* be up by 30 at any point of the game.

Eh, I agree with everything you just said. But I really hope that his next contract is not $200 mil. I hope he commands it, but gets somewhere around $150-$160 mil over 5 years on his next contract so we can put together a solid contender at that juncture.

Plus.
I never said he wouldn't possibly get suspended, so why would I bet?
I see first hand how teams bait him all game.
If someone needs to take an elbow to the head to send a message, so be it.
Maybe its a Cav tonight?

I doubt Whiteside ever offers any hometown discount.
Why would/should he?

If I was Whiteside I'd wanna get the hell away from the Heat organization as fast as possible. Riley has lost it & actually never had it, just got lucky a few times. Hassan in Celtic green @ less than what the Heat offer sounds like a good idea.
