They've had a long run of success making the playoffs, if after 45-50 games they have a bottom 3 record it might have made sense to tank. But with Dirk getting close to leaving, it's better they fight for it especially after signing Barnes and Wes in recent years.

I felt that this blowout was coming. The Mavs have been playing well, while the Thunder have looked like crap in the last week. Whatever the Thunder are doing right is not working.

They've had a long run of success making the playoffs, if after 45-50 games they have a bottom 3 record it might have made sense to tank. But with Dirk getting close to leaving, it's better they fight for it especially after signing Barnes and Wes in recent years.

There were people here screaming for "Tank" after 30 games. Ridiculous. As I always say (and have for years) - gotta let a season breathe. They are playing better now that they are healthy. And - the Noel trade has added "something" to the chemistry. They are starting to show a little more grit at the defensive end and that is partially due (not totally - way more components than that) to having a athletic kid back there who can defend the paint. Next three games are at home against beatable teams (Lakers, Nets, Suns). I'm realistic that Denver still has the advantage here and making the playoffs is pretty much a pipe dream at this point. But this is way more fun and they have some legitimate pieces to build around.
