@WiggyRuss
I thought Whiteside was guaranteed to be the one to meltdown?
Seems like your namesake is the one who cant control himself during the losses.

A 12 game Monday Night in the NBA? I love it!!!!

Rockets @ Spurs and Celtics @ Clippers are the best games on paper.

There were people here screaming for "Tank" after 30 games. Ridiculous. As I always say (and have for years) - gotta let a season breathe. They are playing better now that they are healthy. And - the Noel trade has added "something" to the chemistry. They are starting to show a little more grit at the defensive end and that is partially due (not totally - way more components than that) to having a athletic kid back there who can defend the paint. Next three games are at home against beatable teams (Lakers, Nets, Suns). I'm realistic that Denver still has the advantage here and making the playoffs is pretty much a pipe dream at this point. But this is way more fun and they have some legitimate pieces to build around.

Mavs are tanking the right way. They aren't relying on vets to squeeze out a few extra wins. (except Dirk) They moved the vets -- now let the younger guys play. But play every game to win. (Cuban said recently -- he has no problem if they win some games and it costs them a few spots in the lottery.)

Lakers recently changed and went to this approach of tanking -- but are now saddled with two long-term bloated contracts for older guys.

Sounds like the Heat for the most part..

Only if you believe that Dragic & Waiters are part of the long-term plan.

That is TBD especially on Waiters. This version of Dragic I can see sticking with Miami until the end of his contract. He's been really good. The Dragic we saw the previous two years would be gone by next year IMO

Exactly! Arguments can be made to reduce Wessy Wes' minutes but Curry, Barnes and Noel make for a nice young nucleus to build with. Jury's still out for me on Yogi but the upside is clearly there and is well worth investing minutes to develop. What is really enjoyable for me as an old fan is the commitment to defense they have. They frustrated RW last night. He got his stats but it was clear he wasn't comfortable. That's a credit to Carlisle. The man is a terrific coach.

They will probably end up with a mid-round 1st in the draft as a result of this little winning spurt. I'm OK with it as long as these guys play hard - the record will be what it is.

And - Dirk has a shot to go over 30,000 tomorrow night against the Lakers. All in all - this season has been way better than I had anticipated in October in a number of ways.

3-3 since they got him. A team that is otherwise 13 games over .500.

HE has a good offensive game about every other game thus far- and a bad defensive game every single time he is on the floor.

cheers! lol.

Cmon - those 3 losses fall on a lot more than just him. Their front court starters didn't really play well in any of those 3 losses. Bogdanovic actually didn't play too bad against the Jazz. Anyhow - forget about the stats - the Wizards bench was painful to watch prior to this trade. Now with this guy & hopefully Jennings they can at least not lose games w/ the bench & actually have shown that the bench can win games at times.

All of the Wizards losses from now on will be 100% on Bogdanovic

Bojan Bogdanovic

Yep & his logic w/ this guy playing good or bad in every other game is kind of flawed. He didn't do well in the last Raptors game (although he only attempted 5 shots) but did relatively well in all other games except his Wizards debut vs the 76ers. That was his first game w/ the team & many players don't do that well in that situation due to being tired, nervous or just not used to playing w/ new teammates. He also only took 5 shots during that game. I am not saying that he will be great but he is showing encouraging signs & let's wait a while to make a complete judgment.

You also can't use his stats w/ the Nets as a comparison. That is w/ a completely different team & he didn't have the benefit of playing w/ some players like on the Wizards who perhaps can elevate his game. As for not being a good defender - so what. Guys are on the bench for a reason - even if his defense is subpar his pts might at least be enough to let the bench stay even on the scoreboard and not lose leads in games like their previous bench had been doing at times prior to this trade.

yep, well...

a competitive game. least they kept on fighting til the end...

Yep. At this point, it's about being competitive which shows improvement, but we don't want to be winning too much.

What has become very obvious in games like this is that the Lakers need a closer. They had a great shot at winning last night, but just couldn't get that one more bucket and/or make that one more play to get them over the top.

Hopefully, the kids show enough that a top FA will be interested in coming to LA to be the closer. That, or maybe one of them develops into a closer. Right now, they look like a team that knows how to compete, but not how to win.
