The Serge Ibaka Trade isn’t a Grand slam

Ibaka was once known as a defensive force of nature. Opponents feared going into the paint as they knew it was likely they would have trouble scoring. At his peak during the 2012-2013 NBA season he was averaging 3 blocks a game. This meant he was leading the league in block shots. Fast forward to this season, he is averaging 1.6 blocks a game. This is the lowest amount since his rookie year. The reason for the decline is simple. He has lost his athleticism

His lack of athleticism this year is perfectly illustrated by his lack of rebounding this year. From a high of 9 rebounds 3 years ago, he is currently averaging 6 rebounds a game. He isn’t able to jump as high as he used to. This limits his ability to soar up and get the rebound. His lack of lateral and vertical movements contributes to him being the 10th worst rim protector in the NBA by opponent field goal percentage. In Orlando he seemed to lack effort defensively. Wings would blow past him in the pick and roll for an uncontested lay-up.

NBA Rumors: Celtics Didn’t Want To Part With Prospects For Serge Ibaka

Ibaka made three-straight all-defensive first teams from 2012-14 while with the Oklahoma City Thunder, but he has taken a step back this season with the Magic. Still, Ibaka does present a rare combination of long-range shooting and adequate rim protection, even though his blocks and defensive rating have been declining over the past few seasons, per Basketball Reference.

Who said it was a grand slam? It was a good move and addressed a need. Solid move for a team who was extremely weak at PF.

you are asking if i have watched the Nets? lol...when they have played the Cavs--- but other than that-

who would WILLINGLY watch the shit bag Nets?

Bogdan has to be probably the worst "starting" shooting guard (well they list him at SG- but he has started for the most part at SF- well about half and half- Kilpatrick has started about half the time at SG - and Bogdan has started about half the time at SG) in the NBA. HE has to be the worst starting small forward in the NBA this side of Rodney McGruder- and as far as starting shooting guards go he is probably the worst in the entire league- and if he was on a REAL team- he would never start. And they gave up a FIRST ROUND PICK FOR HIM!!!

after the Cavs got Kyle Korver for a WORSE first roundr 2 years from now? When the Rockets got off of Brewers contract AND got Lou Williams for a WORSE first rounder than the Wizards have?

its just plain atrocious. First round picks- having young controllable players on cheap contracts are extremely valauble. And they just gave one up for a guy who does not move the NEEDLE AT ALL. Its pathetic.

That McHale clothesline that someone posted a picture of earlier wasn't even a technical foul back then. Just a common, 2 shot foul.

Today, he'd probably get kicked out of the league and face criminal charges. lol

Damn he didn't even get T'd up for that? Insane.

No doubt...but I can't say I prefer that game to what we have today.

Sometimes I miss that physical play of back in the day. Helluva way to get in the opponents head.

You clearly know nothing about Bogdan so I'm done with this topic on you. So sick of your act. I never heard of this player so he must be awful.

i just think its a JOKE that they actually gave up a first round pick for a guy who in the grand scheme of things does NOTHING for them---- when the Rockets and Cavs just got BETTER players for first rounders that were worse.

if you think it was a good move to give up a first round pick for Bogdon- more power to you. lol.

Korver is not better than Bojan at this point in his career. Korver is a specialist. Bojan can do way more things on the basketball court than Korver.

Ibaka is not a PF?
asf ar as Ibaka goes--- they didnt give up much- a late first rounder and Ross--- and they can replace Ross---- but its not like he moves the needle- and Biyombo is better at this point for what they need. and at least ibaka is better than a scrub like bogdan.

If they actually give Ibaka an extension- and pay him a lot of money on a deal- while they let the younger, and MUCH more athletic Biyombo go- it will be a REAL disaster....

and if they let Ibaka go for nothing- and gave up a 1 year of Terrence Ross at 10M and a 1st rounder- thats pretty sorry as well.

you gotta put down the pipe.

What does Korver do better than Bojan other than 3 point shooting? Oh yeah that's right you wouldn't know because you haven't seen Bojan play. Sorry for asking

derrick williams can do "more than things on the court" than Kyle Korver can....practically every single player in the NBA who doesnt have a broken leg can do "more things on the court" than Kyle Korver can.

Im sure there are a dozen scrubs in the dleague that can do "more things" than Korver can

but none of them can TOUCH what Korver does best--- shoot the 3. and that makes him WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY more valuable than Bogdan.

Korver is RAINING TRIPLES like the freaking monsoon right now...60% from 3 this month. PSHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Every 3 point shooter numbers will go up when playing with James and Irving. What's your point again? We all know Korver is a 3 point specialist.

Kyle Korver just became the 7th player in NBA history to hit 2000 threes.

those are all because of LeBron James? lol.

What? it took playing around LeBron for Kyle Korver to become one of the, if not the best 3 pt shooter in the league? hahahaha

I can kind of understand why they wouldn't want to part with him for Cousins, but trading him for George, would be a no-brainer imo. They play the same position and while upside is there for Ingram, his ceiling is what? If he reached Paul George level that would be a massive win. So why not go the guaranteed route and get the actual PG early. It would also be more enticing for George to stay in LA considering it's his hometown and not have to try and lure him away from Indiana who could offer him nearly 40% more money than LA could as a free agent.

I agree. PG is already a superstar. Ingram has great potential but who knows who he turns out.

the funny thng is last year i would ahve said do the deal because shumpert really wasnt that great last year.

he is playing really good ball this year. I dont want to be a prisoner of the moment becuase i really like beverly and think this is closer to the "real" shumpert- but i dunno- we shall see

having a defensive first pg like beverly where you could move kyrie and lebron off the ball at times would be kind of interesting.

Shump has always been a defensive first guy that has shown flashes of being a just ok offensive player but this year he has been shooting the ball great. They would really need him to keep it up and be a guy the Cavs can depend on off the bench.

You should snap accept this and yell "no take backs" while running away.

This would be a terrible, terrible, so god awful terrible trade for the Rockets.

Ariza isn't the same but still a little upgrade over Shump IMO. Not enough to make a huge difference I think. Shump. Still a bad trade for Houston in this scenario.

No doubt Korver does what he does, but if every move made is in an effort to beat the Warriors, then Korver is useless.
Re-watch the footage of the Cavs/Warriors game.
The intentionally went after him at every possible opportunity.
