That McHale clothesline that someone posted a picture of earlier wasn't even a technical foul back then. Just a common, 2 shot foul.
Today, he'd probably get kicked out of the league and face criminal charges. lol

When Parish punched Laimbeer twice -- they didn't even call a foul on Chief. If you listen to the broadcast at some point they say it was probably because the official thought Laimbeer deserved it.

The NBA was a helluva lot tougher back in the 80's.

No doubt...but I can't say I prefer that game to what we have today.

should be an interesting day!!!!

anxious to see if my defending champion Cleveland Cavaliers make a move- or wait for the buyout guys to start.

My guess if they make a move if its for a guy who will play minutes in the playoffs. If they cant get a guy who would get minutes in the playoffs- they will just wait for the buyout deadline.

Larry Sanders worked out yesterday- if they sign him- then they dont have a roster spot left if they end up keeping Williams.

I have never been a fan of Sanders because of his past- but if they wanted to give him a try- and see if the leadership of LeBron can help revitlize a guy- i think its worth a shot--- if its anything like how LeBrons leadership has seemed to alredy have positively effected Williams after being in nothing but losing situations in his career- then maybe Sanders can help a little bit.--- however- its asking an awful lot of a guy to come off the street and sign in late februry and help in the playoffs in June.

David Griffin does a great job squeezing every last bit of potential out of the roster though. Should be an interesting day for the defending champs.

it will be interesting to see if any team in the East has any balls and makes a move.

if the best moves contenders make are IBaka and Bogdonovic, then LOL.

It has nothing to with have any balls. It has everything to do with having the right assets. Boston is the only team with the assets to possibly make a move to challenge the Cavs. The other teams do not have those assets so they only make little moves to acquire role players. Impossible to make a move when you don't have the assets.

nah...its had everything to do with their balls.

If they are scared and dont think they have a shot they will sit on their hands. I am not saying i blame them- but cmon already....

the Cavs have just gutted the East the last two years- it would at least be entertaining if Boston or someone made a REAL move.

Ibaka and Bogdonovic? lol...its just such a joke.

I mean- the most loaded team in the East- has been the team thats made the best move so far. It just cracks me up.

Alright Mr. Know it all, what are the assets on Toronto and Washington? I'll patiently wait.

Toronto and Washington made small moves that should improve them slightly. There is no huge move out there for either team to make unless they trade one of their stars. Please tell me the assets Toronto and Washington have that would allow them to make a huge move and change the east playoffs. I'm all ears.

And you're also acting like Ibaka is some bum. It's not going to put them over the top but that was a solid trade for the Raptors. It addressed an issue at their weakness position for years. He is a solid starting PF who provides decent scoring and defense. Unless you have a superstar at PF, 15, 7, & 2 is damn good numbers for a PF.

Toronto before they trded for the mediocre Ibaka:

Poetl- last years #9 pick, Cabalco- 20th overall pick thats only 21 years old from a few drafts ago, Terrence Ross, Norman Powell, they have all their first rounders, plus an extra first rounder this year- AT LEAST 3 first rounders they could trade and a handful of former young first round talents- and solid young wings like Powell and Ross---- but thats nothing LOL

Washington: owned all their first rounders before dealing a FIRST ROUND pick for Bogdonovic, lol. Oubre Jr was the 15th pick last year (or was it the year before) and is a promising young wing, Trey Burke- 24 year old former lotto pick. Why not spend an extra first rounder and package oubre and get a REAL player instead of BOGDAN!!! LOL.

Boston- has a huge heaping pile of assets

the Cavs' two main competitors in the East- Toronto and Boston had/have PLENTY of trade assets...Washington certainly had enough to make a better move than BOGDON!!!!

but i get it--- if they dont think they can beat the Cavs and they are scared- why hurt your future? its just getting kind of sad.

if he does what Biyombo did for them in the playoffs last year ill be surprised. Doesnt move the needle. Its a half measure. Ibaka is not even CLOSE to what he used to be either.

Cavs have 40% of their starting lineup out with long term injuries and are hoping to get both back shortly before the playoffs start- and STILL no one in the East wants to fuck with them.

I understand it- Cavs will have the 2 best players in any series they play in the East--- but cmon already...i gotta think Boston steps up to the plate AT SOME POINT and grows a pair.

What superstar was Toronto getting for Poetl, Cabalco, & Norman Powell? Seriously

You're talking out of your ass once again? How many games have you watched Bogdonovic play?

And once again, what star were they getting for a late 1st round pick this year and Oubre? Nobody wants Trey Burke. He has been a bust.

If you think, Bogdan is not a real player then you should watch more basketball. Once again how many games have you watched in Bogdan career? This is once again another case of you never hearing of a player and thinking he's trash.

Ibaka is much better than Biyombo. Not even close. Biyombo obviously is better on the glass and protecting the paint but that's it. You do realize Ibaka is having one of his best seasons in his career right?

wait...let me go back and read my post....did i say they were getting a "star" ? LOL

all Ibaka does is replace Biyombo from last year at best. Shit man- If you offered 2 first rounders, Powell and Poetl- you could get a much better player than the imposter that claims he is Serge Ibaka. Go get Favors or something- if you offered the jazz 2 first rounders, powell and cabalco for Favors- you have a REAL PF who wont be an unrestricted free agent in 4 months.

and Bogdan? cmon really? lol. REALLY!!!!! its just giving away a first round pick for practically no reason. The Rockets just got Lou Williams for a late as hell first rounder AND they got off of Brewers contract. The Cavs got Korver for a shitty first rounder 2 years from now. the Wizards?! BOGDAN! LOL.

why because he is scoring 15 points a game on an awful Orlando team?

remember when Ibaka actually used to be a force down low? the guy has turned into a soft finesse player. The guy that blocked 3 shots a game has been replaced by this imposter.

like i said- if Ibaka plays as well against the CAvs as Biyombo did I would be SHOCKED. Biyombo actually can still jump and rebound. lol. Ibaka? cmon......hes trying to turn into the late career- homeless man's version of Chris Bosh....a big man that cant get 7 rebounds a game and hangs out on the perimeter.

If they were getting the Ibaka that can block multiple shots a game and was an actual rim protector thats one thing....they would be better off with Biyombo for what there team needs.

il ltell ya- after last years ECF's- im GLAD they have Ibaka instead of someone like Biyombo who isnt afraid to mix it up.

How many games have you watched Bogdan play again? Tell us what you know about Bogdan again

And that trade is awful that you mentioned? Give up 4 players including 2 first rounders for Favors? Who is doing that? They're not winning getting past Cleveland with Favors either

wait...are you saying you actually think it was a good idea to give up a first rounder- THAT IS BETTER THAN either of the first rounders the Cavs and Houston just gave up for Korver and Williams

for BOGDAN?!!! lol

cmon.

you give up a 1st round pick for a guy that does practically NOTHING for you. At least hold out for a guy who is not little better than replacement level for a 1st rounder...those dont exactly grow on trees.

I cant believe you think that was actually a good use of a first round pick. unbelievable. it feels like it was just a move to make a move.

The Serge Ibaka Trade isn’t a Grand slam

Ibaka was once known as a defensive force of nature. Opponents feared going into the paint as they knew it was likely they would have trouble scoring. At his peak during the 2012-2013 NBA season he was averaging 3 blocks a game. This meant he was leading the league in block shots. Fast forward to this season, he is averaging 1.6 blocks a game. This is the lowest amount since his rookie year. The reason for the decline is simple. He has lost his athleticism

His lack of athleticism this year is perfectly illustrated by his lack of rebounding this year. From a high of 9 rebounds 3 years ago, he is currently averaging 6 rebounds a game. He isn’t able to jump as high as he used to. This limits his ability to soar up and get the rebound. His lack of lateral and vertical movements contributes to him being the 10th worst rim protector in the NBA by opponent field goal percentage. In Orlando he seemed to lack effort defensively. Wings would blow past him in the pick and roll for an uncontested lay-up.

NBA Rumors: Celtics Didn’t Want To Part With Prospects For Serge Ibaka

Ibaka made three-straight all-defensive first teams from 2012-14 while with the Oklahoma City Thunder, but he has taken a step back this season with the Magic. Still, Ibaka does present a rare combination of long-range shooting and adequate rim protection, even though his blocks and defensive rating have been declining over the past few seasons, per Basketball Reference.
