Kings win their 4th straight, although the win streak ends tomorrow at GSW. Cousins with 40/12/8 but 6 turnovers. I guess they care more about trying to make the playoffs then they do getting a high draft pick.

Apparently making the playoffs will ruin your franchise.

Maybe.

But, the media doesn't seem to be onboard with penalizing Westbrook for his horrific turnovers and efficiency.

So, I think he will come in 3rd, at worst.

Averaging a triple dub throughout the season is also catching the eyes of a lot of voters. Here's my MVP vote:

Mine: Harden, IT, Westbrook, Bron, Durant

How I think it's going to end up: Harden, Westbrook, Bron, IT, Durant

Yep.

I love Thomas.

But, his Team is being overshadowed by bigger stories.

Durant and his Super Team.

Westbrook and his crash dummy style play, while averaging a triple double.

Harden , the notorious ball hogger, leading the NBA in assists, while having the Rockets top 3 in the West.

LeBron putting up huge numbers, while crying to the media. But, still has his team in 1st place, despite all the injuries.

Thomas is lost in the shuffle of bigger stories, from bigger names.

Apparently the Lakers has a meeting with Larry Sanders who is looking to get back in the league. This could be an intriguing move if he's worked out his issues. Seems like a potential low risk/high reward type of deal.

They'll have to release someone and Metta seems the most likely candidate even though everyone loves the guy from his teammates, to fans, to the FO. I wonder what the rules would be on releasing Mozgov since it looks like he's not going to be playing much anymore.
Sanders would be interesting for a team like the Lakers i think--- but look at all the bigs now- Randle, Black, Robinson, maybe Sanders, Nance Jr.------- they are all young guys with potential

isnt it unbeleivable you typed the words about releasing a guy in year 1 of a 4 year 65 million dollar deal? that is just a total disaster. Magic Johnson has to be sick to his stomach.

I suppose you could stretch him-- im not sure anyone has ever been stretched with that many years and that much cash left on their deal- i think that if they let him go in the offseason with 3 years remaining they could stretch his salary over 6 years.....which would still suck- paying Mozgov 8 million a year for the next 6 years...but maybe thats etter then paying him 16 million a year for the next 3 years and having him totally shit on your cap space.

Festuz Ezeli has been a disaster but his contract is unguaranteed next year. Magic Johnson would give away free tickets for the next half decade to his Magic Johnson theaters to be able to trade Mozgov for Ezeli.

Thomas being a 1 way player and a disaster on defense hurts his MVP candiddacy- its why i think itll be difficult for Kyrie to ever be a true top MVP candidate.

Thomas is abysmal defensively. I couldnt take him over guys like LeBron and Kawhi- i just couldnt for MVP.

It's not as if Mozgov has been terrible (although he hasn't been good) and he does get a fair amount of the credit for helping Zubac develop. Some of the issues aren't entirely his fault. But that's a lot of money to have sitting on the end of the bench. With Luke's decision to just develop the young guys, as Heatles pointed out, he has become a very expensive cheerleader.

the good news for the Lakers is that there are basically ZERO back court players avaliable on the trade market- which should give Williams and young even a little extra value.

IF the Lakersm anagement does not trade those guys i just think it shows further incompetence. The upside is just too great...not only the assets you get from trading them- but the increased likelihood of keeping TWO first rounders- this years, and the one to Orlando would be cancelled and turned into 2nd rounders.

If the Lakers just play out the status quo and dont get that pick, itll be just another further sign of the incompetence that has reigned there over the last few years. The upside is just too much.

Yes, I like many continue to overlook Kawhi.

But, as good as Thomas stats and Team record are, I can easily make a case of why all those other guys are more deserving.

Westbrook averages more points and assists.

Harden/Bron averages more assists and their teams have a better record.

Durant is on the best team.

I'm not trying to knock Thomas because he is extraordinary and deserves to be in the conversation.

But, the gap between him and Harden is astronomical when you remember Harden only averages .7 percent less points while averaging double the assists.

His lack of defense isn't surprising when he is Damn near half a foot shorter than the guy he's guarding...lol

I don't think he, nor Deng, are untradeable.

You just need to attach a asset.

Yeah, if the Lakers can trade Williams and/or Young, maybe they can include Mozgov and/or Deng as part of the deal. The problem is, the teams that would benefit most from acquiring Williams and/or Young are playoff teams looking for points off the bench and who probably don't have the cap space for Mozgov or Deng. Outside of that, I'm not sure what else they could do besides, as Wiggy suggests, stretching Mozgov.

End of the day, the Lakers are still a season or 2 away from even the playoffs and Magic has said they're looking at a 3-5 year rebuild. So, at least there is time to see if Mozgov can regain some confidence and return to being the player he was before he got hurt.

i think Thomas and RW are going to wear down a little bit over the next couple months. I mean- how many high stress minutes, how many times tumbling to the ground, how much time being the whole offense basically can y ou take before things start getting rough?

Thomas takes a ton of free throws- he is hitting the floor dozens of times- for a little guy that - i would think thats worrisome....RW has ahd some leg issues in the passed as well.

It just seems like those 2 teams are asking a TON of those guys right now and red-lining their engines.

i think you could trade one of them- but you would have to either attach a very enticing asset- like a randle- or you would have to attach an asset like a Williams- and take back an almost equally bad contract like an Asik.

As long as it's fewer years, taking back a contract almost as bad, would be good.

Yep.

I was actually thinking NOLA.

But, I'd rather have Mosgov.

Hell, I'd rather have Noah...lol
