Yep that's what I try to tell someone yesterday. These teams are so close. A team currently drafting 11th could be in position 5 or 6 a month from now.
The only one who really stands apart from the rest in being bad is the Nets, who don't even get to take advantage of having a horrible season in the draft. The Lakers and Suns have also been really bad, but they're within 5 games of dropping out of the top 5. The 4th worst record is only 4 GB of the 13th worst record.

agree...things can change rapidly

as for the HEat- it certainly looks like they can drop and that the win streak was a fluke when you follow it up with losses to the Sixers and Magic.

How is a 13 game win streak a fluke?

Kings have a combined winning record against the Warriors, Cavs, Raptors, Hawks, and Celtics(6-4). If only they didn't suck against average-bad teams(14-14 record vs teams below .500).

Damn, that's crazy.

They played great during the win streak, in which they beat the Rockets, Warriors, and Hawks. It's not like those 13 games turned them into a great team though, they're still flawed and not contenders. But to discredit the entire win streak because they struggled against 2 other sub .500 teams would be a mistake imo.

The Kings like to play to the level of their competition. At least they got that record vs losing teams back over .500!

In regards to whether it will happen again sometime this year, I think we'd all agree it's a "fluke," by definition. But I wouldn't be surprise to see them continue to play well and possibly even sneak into the playoffs.

Are any of you non-76ers fans following the Okafor trade rumors? Okafor was a DNP against Charlotte and didn't even travel with the team because of a potential trade being nearly imminent. Two days later, he's traveling to Boston and he'll play. Speculation is that the 76ers GM did it in an attempt to drum up trade interest in Okafor. Seems sort of transparent and seems like amateur hour. I'm embarrassed for him.

DNP vs Miami as well. Another example of what happens when you drop the ball on a lottery pick. Sixers could have had KP who I think would work better with Embiid.

definitely agree to a certain extent....a 13 game win streak no matter how you cut it is impressive....however, its pretty obvious its a fluke when your overall record is 24-32 (over half your wins in the win streak) and you follow it up with pretty abysmal losses to the Sixers and Magic.

that is a poor job by their front office.

its not a surprise though. There is no leverage trading big men right now. Its all that is avaliable. Look at all the trades that have been made, practically everyone moving thus far is a big man.

there is a paucity of guards and wings on the market right now that is for sure.

no one (smartly) values the center position nearly as much as they used to in the NBA.

the guards that i have seen on the Cavs interest list are Lou Williams, Shelvin MACk, and Darren Collison- if they make a trade.....if they cant get a guy of that caliber through trade- they will just wait for the buyouts to begin supposedly.

by the way--- Dwill playing in the Cavs system has looked really good. LeBron is really taking advantage of his athleticism and finishing ability.

thus far- in an admittedly short time frame- it looks like a freaking steal.

it seems like playing in a winning and positive situation has had a nice effect on him. He even says he has never experienced anything like this in the NBA and has to go back to college to remember what it was like.

if he keeps hustling and keeps finishing plays- he will find a nice home here playing 20 minutes a night

Didnt Sixers win the next night in Charlotte?
really? they beat Charlotte?

stop the presses. this fucking changes everything. They are 21-34 with the 4th worst record in the league- were missing Embiid, Okafor, and ofc ourse Simmons-

but shit, they beat Charlotte?

plan the parade route right now.

How is a 13 game win streak a fluke?

Depends on what happens now that the streak is over. The Heat were what? 11-32 when the streak started? If they revert back to that type of record, then the streak was a fluke built on a part of the schedule that had them playing almost entirely sub .500 teams.

However, if they continue to play well and they finish the season stronger than they started or evenmake the playoffs...then it wasn't a fluke.

That's the same as the Warriors winning streak last year where they won 24 games in a row being a fluke. Or the '13 Heat that won 27 games in a row being fluke; because we all knew those teams weren't going to do that again during their respective seasons. When you win that many games in a row that includes 2 of the top 3 teams in the West, it means that there's some talent and potential on the team. Are the Heat contenders? Hell no. Doesn't mean they're shit either.

No. I've heard being consistently in the lottery is all that matters.
