So then by your logic what is the point of handing out the MVP of the reg season if the recipient's team doesn't win the championship?
I believe there is a reason the records for reg season & post season are separate. Because they aren't one in the same.
But I just don't think it's fair to say the reg season means nothing because like it or not that is a record in the record books- and there's no asterisk beside it because they didn't win the title.
I never said having the best record in the reg season was the goal. I said that because they DID set a record IMO their reg season wasn't meaningless. No, the MVP is an individual award given to the player who has the best overall season, championships are team awards.
They are separate because not everyone makes the playoffs.
It's very fair, because outside of determining who makes the playoffs and how they are seeded, the regular season does mean nothing. When was the last time you heard a player or coach say their goal was to have the best regular season record? When was the last time you heard a player or coach say their goal was to win a championship?
Things like "best regular season record" etc. are nothing more than participation trophies. They look nice in the trophy case until someone looks closer and realize they don't represent actually winning anything. Before you say, they won 73 games, despite those 73 wins, they are just one of 29 teams that didn't win the title.
You think he wants to deal with speedy gonzalez ON TOP OF playing the most minutes per game in the league??![]()

Not surprising. 3rd game in 4 nights. He was going to sit out one of these 2.
Quite often he's sat vs Indy, and they are a divisional rival, so it makes sense.
@Mecca , please don't tell me you guys are going to lose to the Knicks. C'mon man!
