Dunny Ainge is the worst gm in sports, but he will never get fired because of the 08 offseason

His best move (at least in the last 8 years) was trading Paul & KG at exactly the right time. (Rondo/Crowder, Brown, IT, Horford -- all solid moves)

Defending NBA Champions. Best player in the world in his prime. another top 15 player in the game. another top 25 player. A solid supporting cast. Tons of mental toughness coming off the greatest comeback in the history of the NBA.

So why'd you guys go 6-10 in March?

i think with your track record of predicting these things with Gilbert and LeBron and contracts it would PROB be better if you just took a pass on this one. Theres your "if" again.

If LeBron wins 2 more titles he will stay in Cleveland forever, he might even take a discount and play for the minimum.

Yeah......Lebron has already said he's not taking anymore discounts and playing for the max here on out.

Jrue is pretty good, he's not close to IT

Wiggy is absolutely right about a lot of the teams in the East not trying to go after the Cavs, he's ABSOLUTELY right

The reported asking prices for George and or Butler were outrageous.
Hes not right at all.

Did @WiggyRuss ever explain why James would play in back to back a day after he played 52 minutes in the final week of the season?

Why should he trade a likely top 3 pick in this draft for one of those other guys?

Every team dealing with Boston wanted that pick. They were not getting a star without giving up that pick from this upcoming draft which is almost a lock to be a top 3 pick
"why should he trade a likely top 3 pick for one of those guys"??

I mean- thats kind of self explanatory right. I would hope you could get there on your own.

Its just very telling to me- in a year where the Cavs have "coasted" through the regular season- and have had multiple long term injuries to starters- Boston was still afraid to make a move and go after the Cavs- preferring for the "long term approach" even though they have ANOTHER Nets pick after this year even.

Ainge is just waiting until LeBron gets old. Its kinda pathetic. lol

I mean- i gotta tell you- if you put Paul George on the Celtics--- that all of a sudden is a series thats not over before it starts.

Its very similar to what I was talking to @trojanfan12 about with the Lakers--- how with the LAkers if they get a top 3 pick- that guy will autmoatically become the most talented guy on the team and allow everyone to fit better into the roles they are best suited for- moving Russell down to a #2, Ingram to a #3, Randle to a #4...etc...

George would A. obviously be a great foil for Lebron, and B. Allow Thomas to be the 2nd best player on the team- a role he is MUUUUUUUCH better suited for on a championship contender, allow Horford to be a 3rd guy--- allow Crowder and Bradley to be 4th and 5th guys.

If the Celtics had George or Butler in that lead role--- then they are a team that has to be taken deadly seriously.

As is?---- you def. are gonna have to play hard and show up- but the talent disparity- is just too much for them to beat the Cavs 4 times out of 7. Just wouldnt happen unless something REALLY REALLY funky occurs.

but alas- Ainge pussied out- and the Cavs have another wide open path to the Finals.

So why'd you guys go 6-10 in March?

Ill give you the most real answer I possibly can that is DEFINITELY long winded but i think its accurate.

they had a bad month. Probably a combination of integrating new pieces, integrating injured guys, guys in and out of the lineup, fatigue, complacency, schedule,

its why i kinda thought that was kinda a nice win against Indiana. Indiana is playing for their playoff lives- and the Cavs really are just trying to basically run a training camp--- I mean- there are literally guys on the Cavs that havent played a month of basketball together that will be playing together in the playoffs like Deron Williams, Korver and Smith and Love, Shumpert too to a certain extent since he has been banged up as well---- before last month- those 5 guys have not had much time on the court together.

When you are a little complacent- and you are playing with guys you have never played with before, maybe you rest a guy or two that game- and say go into Denver--- a team fighting for their playoff lives- at their building--- its not gonna be easy.

The Cavs had their first practice in basically forever last week.

Its why i am just not worried come the playoffs- come the playoffs they will have had some time to do a few very important things:

1. they will have had time to play together now that JR and Love are back and DWill is here and Korver should be back tonight.

2. They will have practice time- which should also help the above. Its so freaking hard to play defense in the NBA even when everyone is on the same a page and knows their own teammates tendencies--- practice time will help.

3. Prep-time/Scouting---- the playoffs is a lot different animal then the regular season obviously- you are playing the same team 4, 5, 6, times in a row- you have time to game plan, scout, put in certain schemes- and Lue and the Cavs have done a great job of that the last couple years

4. The Cavs are an experienced, mentally tough veteran team- they know how to handle the playoffs- that experience is huge when the playoffs roll around- that mental toughness to be able to get punched in the face and get up and punch back. That is a HUGE advantage over a team like the Wizards.

5. And what i think is the most important thing for this team- as David Griffin has said in the past multiple times:
Yet others reportedly felt that James' comments came at the right time, believing the Cavs react better when the pressure is on. Griffin seemed to confirm this school of thought.

"We're not good from the front," he said. "We're much better when we're the hunter ... It's hard for me to tell you we're dealing with a lot of adversity when we're No. 1 in the East. But we have a tendency to be our best when our backs are against the wall, so I have no reason to believe that won't be true now."

The Celtics didn't pussy out of anything. Trading your top 3 (likely top pick) for George or Cousins who was no lock to re-sign when they were free agents in another year is retarded. I really don't you think realize how great the top of this draft is. Sorry you're just not very smart. Boston is in a great position right now. No need to risk the future by going for a 1 or 2 year rental. Acquiring Butler, George, or Cousins does not guarantee them a title.

Number of 40-point triple doubles in the last 35 years: 19
Number of 40-point triple doubles this year: 15 (7 for Harden, 7 for Westbrook, 1 for LeBron).

Like, seriously, WTF?

yep, DEFINITELY long-winded, but from you we're used to it...

"just had a bad month, they were integrating new pieces", etc etc SOUNDS like excuses. ALSO something we've all grown to expect from you...

I thought the Cavs chemistry was sound being that this was their 3rd year together. Didn't realize that Love being out was making them a significantly worst defensive team. Guess Love should be a candidate for DPOY. Strange times, brethern.
