I see it in Susac but Sanchez.....not so much. I can see from Susac's approach and his pitch selection that he can hit. Hackers like Sanchez, once pitchers realize they will swing at anything, won't throw them a strike and they will get worse each year.

Just like :panda:.

:D

BTW, I tend to agree with you. While he has improved as a catcher, and he has decent hitting skill, the nickname "Hacktor" was not given in jest.

However, if it is Hacktor or GQ or some other non-hitting catcher, I'll take Hacktor. I think Susser beats him out for the #2 catcher, but we might carry three catchers. Who knows? Maybe he can play 3rd, right Mays-Fan? :whistle:

Ha ha. I edited that part out. Thought it might be a sore subject on this board.

Stokesy's mad 'cause he got stung on the Headley WAR issue.

I'm not mad. I am used to getting schooled on this board. Haven't quite had time to wade through the WAR article yet. I sure I will turn into one of Mays-Fans alts pretty soon. Not all our alts are belong to tzill, I guess. :nod:

I wouldn't mind seeing Headley in a Giants uniform. He's a quality ball player who is more than capable of giving you the .275 average with 15 homeruns that Sandoval gives you along with pretty good defense.

He's a 3.5-4.0 WAR player who gives solid D and decent production. Good clubhouse guy. Good OBP, but would be the whiff king on the Giants (almost 1K/game). Nonetheless, would replace most of Panda's production for 2/3 the cost.

Lineup would be: Oxy/Panik/Buster/Pence/Belt/Chase/LF/Stamos.
Bench: Shark/JCP/Susac/Scoots/Kobe

Now, BRING ME MELKY.

3 minor signings today: righty Cory Gearrin, lefty Nik Turley, and outfielder Justin Maxwell. I'm not familiar with the pitcher's stuff, Turley is a former 2008 50th round pick who's never seen the majors, big lefty. Gearrin has pitched in the majors with the Braves since 2011, but missed '14 with Tommy John.

Maxwell I am familiar with. He's a former decent prospect, has good tools but never put it together. Now he's 31, looking to be the next Juan Uribe/Andres Torres/Gregor Blanco.

With one more solid starter in the rotation, I think they can win with that lineup though but I'd like to see Crawford out of the 8th spot. Why do you call Pagan "Oxy"

Angel Pagan is an oxymoron --> Oxy
Buster won the MVP --> MVP or Gerald
Pence is herky jerky and preaches --> Herk or Rev
Belt is #9 --> BB9
Arias resembles Kobe Bryant --> Kobe
Crawford looks like John Stamos --> Stamos
Bumgarner --> Bum
Matt Cain was a workhorse --> Horse
Hudson --> Huddy
Lincecum is a freak athlete --> Freak
Vogelsong has the demeanor of a robot --> Tron
Petit means small in French, he's not French --> Biggie
Affeldt --> JA
Lopez --> JLo
Casilla --> K, C ya
Strickland --> Strick
Brett Bochy --> Baby Bochy
Kontos --> Greek Assassin
Machi --> Dancing Machine
Hector Sanchez --> Chez3 or Hacktor
Susac --> The Suss
Adrianza --> EA
Matt Duffy --> Duffman
Ishikawa --> Ish
Scutaro is like scooter --> Moped
Villalona --> AnVil
Gregor Blanco becomes Greg White which sounds like Great White --> Shark
Perez --> JCP

That's all of them, I think.

Seems mostly complete. Nice work. As to alt nics:

When Blanco was not hitting, I resorted to calling him "Guppy" rather than "Shark"

JA = Patty (from the slicing frozen hamburgers incident)

We started calling Hicks "HicKs" because he struck out a lot.

Actually, we called Hicks HRicks when he was off to his hot start. Forgot about Patty. I didn't include players who are not here anymore (Panda, HRicks, Beast, etc.)

Giants starting to make the rumor-rounds for Hamels. Maybe his price drops a bit if we take on Rollins and his contract as well.

Would Sussac and Crick get that done? That would clear a SHIT-TON of salary for Philly, give them an MLB-ready catcher and a near MLB-ready SP/closer and it would give the Giants a #1b pitcher and a stop-gap 3B.

Wonder if we have the resources to pry away Cole Hamels now that the Philth seem to be sellers. He's owed about the same per year as Lester, but only a 4 year deal, with a 5th year vesting option. Dude has a lot of miles, but can pitch.

Rollins deal is not complete yet.

Just saw a report saying he has not yet waived his no-trade clause.

I doubt this plays much into how this plays out, but Rollins, much like Burrell, grew up a die-hard Giants fan, and has mentioned that he would like to play for the Giants at some point. I say there is about a .08% chance he is holding off on the no trade clause because he just doesn't want to wear the Blue.
