Seen rumors that the Rays are looking for a backup catcher with experience, but also minor league options. Does this sound like anyone to you guys?

I also hear that the Rays are trying to trade Matt Joyce. I've never been all that thrilled about the guy, but maybe there is a trade to look out for there. He's not the worst we could do, and would provide a cheaper LF option assuming we are breaking the bank on Sandoval or Thomas for 3B. Then we could focus on starting pitching and be done.

If Boston was out on Hanley, Sabean should lower the offer to Sandoval.

If he wants to take more money to play in SD, fine.

Some Red Sox source on Twitter says Sandoval has agreed to a 5 year/$102million deal in Boston.....along with 5/90 for Hanley.......

Reports are surfacing that Pablo is signing with the Sox. 5yrs-$102M. I'm guessing we'll find out tomorrow morning.

If true, this will suck.

However, I am uncomfortable with the 5/95 offer they reportedly made. Going higher than that is a huge risk.

The Sox now have a shit-ton of extra OF and 3B. Maybe the Giants can see about working a deal for Middlebrooks and Nava?

So, in the end....it was all about money for Sandoval.

Oh well, have fun being the whipping boy for Sox Nation if things don't go as planned.

Go Giants!

Panda is lovable, but he is insanely frustrating. I wonder how long it will take for the Boston fans to turn on him. In SF, he came up as a kid, and the fans had 3 rings to keep them distracted. In Boston, he is a mercenary.

Exactly. I'm fine with him going for the bigger payday, I just wish he would have gone about it differently.

Something tells me his brother had a lot to do with it, as did David Ortiz and his idiotic campaigning by the batting cage during the World Series.

If Pablo takes Red Sox's $100M over Giants $95M and Giants indicated that $95M wasn't their final offer, maybe he was set on leaving the Giants all along. He shouldn't have said he wanted to be a Giants for life. Anyway, good luck to him. He better hope he doesn't get into a slump for a couple months. The Sox fans could turn on him quickly.

Exactly my thoughts, too........The whole show he put on about wanting to stay in SF seems kind of lame if the numbers were similar.

And the individual conversations before game 7 had to have been good byes. Not saying he knew then but that in the event he got money to go someplace else he was going to go.
