Holland has sub scapular strain. Won't pick up ball for a month.

Know you posted it Duane but just had paste this in some form of rant. Sounds like it's going to be more than 6 weeks.

FWIW, don't expect to see Holland until post all-star break at the earliest. Subscapular strains generally take 6-8 weeks to heal, even with complete rest. And that's for someone who doesn't make his living throwing 90 mile an hour fastballs with said shoulder. The rehab to pre-injury status takes about 4-6 weeks.

60 day DL likely coming for Holland. I don't expect to see him on the mound again until September.

This is going to be one of the longest Ranger seasons in memory. The injuries are just beginning. Someone has got to re-evaluate off season conditioning for this team. Never seen anything like it.

Sorry, our luck sure not getting any better. Never seen something like this, happen to the same team for this period of time.
Seems like years ago the Angles had a whole lot of injuries for more than a year. Seems like their team bus was even involved in an accident.

At this point even if Perez and Harrison were both ready to pitch just after the AS break I would expect each of them to come down with some different injury right after they got back. Perez would throw out his back and Matt would tear his UCL. Good grief!

Wonder if Romeo can enlighten us on this injury.

Probably can.

Subscapularis is a rotator cuff muscle. It's actually the biggest and strongest of the rotator cuff muscles, and typically the least likely to be torn.

This is good and bad. The good news is it tends to heal well because it is the largest of the rotator cuff muscles, and unless there is a full thickness tear it rarely requires surgery. The bad news is he cannot even beging to throw a baseball for four weeks minimum because strain is placed on this muscle with external rotation, which pitchers need an extreme amount of.

Long story short. We might see Holland back mid June if everything goes off without a hitch. More likely early July.

Is this the same kind of injury he had a few years back when he missed several weeks?
