Glad to see Williams, Mazara, and Alfaro all off to good starts. I believe they have 6 doubles between the three of them. Brinson has a HR and a double himself at High Desert.

Rangers claim Pimentel off waivers from Pirates | texasrangers.com

The Rangers received right-hander Stolmy Pimentel from the Pirates via a waiver claim on Saturday.

To make room for Pimentel on the 40-man roster, Texas transferred fellow righty Lisalverto Bonilla to the 60-day disabled list. Bonilla was originally placed on the 15-day DL on April 5, retroactive to March 31, due to a right elbow impingement.

As for adding Pimentel to the active roster, the Rangers are expected to announce another corresponding roster move once the 25-year-old joins the team.

Pimentel, who racked up a 4.50 ERA in 25 appearances with the Pirates over the past two seasons, was designated for assignment last Sunday, when Pittsburgh set its Opening Day roster. He was limited to just 20 outings for the Pirates last season due to right shoulder inflammation and a right ankle sprain.

It sure would be nice if Gallardo stepped up and put in a solid 7/8 innings tonight. And I hope he's not putting too much additional pressure on himself - 1st start in front of home fans/friends and Holland's injury - and he'll come out relaxed.

I'm with 100% here.

Additionally, there's absolutely no reason for any player to put extra pressure on themselves, due to what's transpired. No reason to rush anyone back, or bring anyone up. In fact, now would be the perfect time for everyone to take a breath/relax and focus on their assignment.

The chips have kind of fallen where they may already.

ARLINGTON – The Rangers made it official on Saturday that Derek Holland won’t be back before June by placing him on the 60-day DL with a strain of the subscapularis muscle in his left shoulder.

Holland was replaced on the 40-man roster by OF Carlos Peguero, whose contract was purchased from Triple-A Round Rock. In addition, the Rangers recalled RHP Jon Edwards from Round Rock for the bullpen as OF Ryan Rua was placed on the 15-day DL with a sprained right ankle.

The Rangers had started the day by claiming RHP Stolmy Pimentel from Pittsburgh. He will go on the 25-man roster when he reports Sunday and the Rangers will have to make a reciprocal move

I'll admit I am so completely out of this loop it's ridiculous. Plus, it doesn't amount to mound of nothing to begin with. But let me ask anyway, does Emily Jones get her hair style/cut at the local weedeater shop and her clothes from Goodwill?

Do you guys see anything in Pimentel? Is he here simply to fortify the bullpen until they have to make a move to replace Holland in the rotation in a few days? In other words, is he gone as soon as they move a starter up from the minors?
