Mitchell... As far as I can tell from the articles, he is good to go. I think he will have a better year. Shamarko... Something tells me he is going to win the position battle. If not, it worries me as well. Only other proven starter is Will Allen. Golden maybe... Holliman is a stretch out the gate. Maybe later on down the road he'll provide some stability. But Ventrone, Lewis, Darby, Wild, Dangerfield, etc are most likely STers at best. I've read great things about Lewis & Darby, but the fact that they couldn't catch on with other squads has me second guessing them. But I have faith in Shamarko... The few times that I've watched him in the preseason he looked golden out there. Thats why it never made any sense why he wasn't given more opportunities last season. We shall see...
Porter... Vet min definitely! But with the depth they have, I don't see him proving to be better value than the young talent they already have. I think they will carry 5 CBs this year, depending on injuries in TC. Gay, Allen, Golson, Blake, Grant are most likely going to be the guys to fill those spots.
I've been reading/hearing great things about Tyler Murphy & Devin Gardner (both former college QB's listed as WRs). Their athleticism and impressive hands have been on full display so far this week. Hard to argue with keeping someone with that type of versatility around on the 53. Someone that can play WR, QB, and possibly ST would be an asset. They would push for a game day active spot each week. Especially if one of them can unseat the hapless Landry Jones. Having a #3 QB that can play WR would be great insurance.
