thats desperation
I wasn't sayin that I wanted Jones. I was merely saying that they should look into bringing in a different "project" type QB3. Someone young that has room for growth, and shows more promise than Landry. Landry's ceiling is nothing more than a QB3.thats desperation
If Landry sticks around on the 53 this season then I would expect a QB to be drafted in next year's draft. Probably another 3rd or 4th round type prospect.
I had a feeling. Not sure why they keep signing WR's that have almost 0% chance of making the roster. I do like this new kids highlight film though. Looks great!

Its almost a guarantee that Jones makes the 53 now.
Me either.
I've been on a few websites and lot people are saying that Chick is outplaying Dupree and might push the LB count to 10...your thoughts?
Jones...we can hold out hope for Murphy or is he gone already? lol
Chickillo has been a "camp darling" from what I've been reading. Lots of tweets from the Trib crew had a lot of good things to say about him. The radio shows have been raving about him as well. But so far he has yet to impress during the preseason games. Dupree is letting the schemes get to him. He's spending too much time thinking out there and not playing. The pressure to perform may be getting to him and making him overthink, but he is far more talented than he is displaying on the field. We have yet to see his 4.5 speed. But he does have the benefit of being the 1st round pick where he gets babied no matter what.
Murphy is still here. And he is our last hope...
Murphy has been playing really well with the WRs so he could make a good push for Landry's spot.
Absolutely... You said it perfectly!Chick...Dupree...one guy is a lock to make the team the other is not and maybe the people see that higher level of intensity in Chick. Bud is probably trying to play mistake free so you look mechanical...can't release that talent yet.
I'm thrilled that Chick is showing enough to make them consider 10 LBs because even though it looks crowded for now, Deebo has to be looked at as a 1 yr player and to be honest we still don't really know if JJ is a 2nd contract player in PIT.
Stop me if you've heard of this one before... Former Steeler making a name for himself in Arizona.

Yea, and you always hope the best for him. The kid suffered a tough camp plagued with injuries. Sometimes that stuff just happens no matter what you do to prevent it.One some level that happens to every team...you release a guy that makes it somewhere else, but landing on the same team, over and over?
fwiw...I thought they gave up on him too quickly.
Ben is locked up for 4 more seasons after this one, and barring injury, I think we can forecast his performance level being close to where is now for at least 3 more years.
My question...what year makes sense to aim for a legit heir apparent?
We like to say the Steelers always draft BPA, and Shazier looked to be one of those picks, but JJ and Dupree were need picks imo.
If Shark holds his own, JJ and C Allen have strong years...the Steelers will go into the '16 draft back in the position of truly drafting BPA and building depth. I'm hopeful that we're picking too high to get a stud OL.
I think the Steelers will hold their same draft philosophy. Like you said, it appears to be BPA almost always. But if you think about it, they were very high on both JJ & Dupree before the draft. So having a player of that collegiate caliber & of a position of need fall to you on draft day is a win-win. For QBs... They will likely draft one in the mid rounds next year to begin another project development. I think regardless of Landry's further play, they know his ceiling so the strings will be cut. He's probably going to stick around because he knows the system the best. I'm thinking they will wait until at least 2018 before they consider drafting one in the 1st round.
The next few years is most likely to be BPA. The offense is stacked, no question. The O-line is young. Foster can be resigned for relatively cheap if they decide to go that route. I'm with you in hoping they draft a stud O-lineman. But the defense has been heavily stocked. The only position I can see them drafting on defense would be either safety position or cornerback. Shamarko hasn't looked that great so far in camp or preseason. Granted, he's been dealing with injuries, but he has always suffered from injuries so thats a huge red flag. There just aren't a whole lot of positions on either side of the ball that demand drafting for need. But the bigger question is, will they keep their O-line intact? Beachum & DeCastro's contracts are nearing an end. They decided to exercise DeCastro's 5th yr option which keeps him under contract through 2016. But Beachum could be a FA next season.
