I am hoping that, like 2013 the Flyers get to catch a falling 1st rounder either with the 2nd first or the 2nd pick...or both.

For the pick at 7? Best available regardless. Of course, that best available will be driven by how the Flyers rate and not us....

ok boys here's a question in regard to compensation.. I see that the Pens received a 3rd round pick from Buffalo for hiring Disco Dan.. Why is it that the Flyers didn't get squat for Lavi? Dan was fired? I don't understand? Will someone please explain this?

So apparently teams can seek compensation for executives that are hired by other teams. It just doesn't always Happen because teams want to get rid of the $$ they owe their fired employees. Seeking compensation could prevent a team from hiring them and thus keep them on the previous team's books.

Why does hiring a coach that is still under contract void that contract. Don't they get paid by the previous team and the new team until the original contract expires?

Flyers didn't get anything for Lavi because the rule wasn't in place when he signed elsewhere

Looking at who the Flyers have added already and what we know about Hakstol's preference for skating and swarming Grossmann and Luke Schenn could both be gone by the draft. I would rather keep Luke, but that aside, this could mean as much as two additional mid round picks in this years draft. Considering that the Flyers already have 7 picks in the top 100, even adding another 3rd would be another great chance to build the team long term.

I am actually working on who I would like to see in Orange and Black. I keep being amused at how the various scouting reports vary on players, some by as much as 20 spots. Once you get outside of the top 5 - 10 it gets very interesting.

With Tampa going to the Finals, that pick will either be 29th or 30th

Well Kimmo Timonen has officially returned us two 2nd round picks. Great haul.

I actually read somewhere else that because the Lightning made the Finals the Coburn trade was a bust....WTF?
A top 30 prospect in this draft and the removal of Coburn's contract from the payroll. That is a good deal.

I'll give Coburn credit, he has been very good for Tampa. Just wasn't going to be a fit here. He can't be the guy. A good defenseman on our bad defense is a waste.

Yep, Coburn is a good secondary part. The flyers didn't have the primary part for him to play with anymore.

Good trade.

Don't get me wrong...I liked Coburn as a player, this deal was a benefit for him as much as it was the Flyers

From Bill Meltzer:

Depending on whether the Lightning or the Blackhawks win the Stanley Cup Final, this is how the Flyers' 2015 draft picks will fall:

1st round - Flyers (7th overall), Tampa Bay (29th or 30th overall)
2nd round - Chicago (60th or 61st overall)
3rd round - San Jose (70th overall), Tampa Bay (90th or 91st overall)
4th round - Flyers (98th overall), Columbus (99th overall)
5th round - Flyers (128th overall)
6th round - Flyers (158th overall)
7th round - Flyers (188th overall)
