Lets do this!
I think this was a case of the first team to show interest he would sign with.Subban signs. That's no fun

found some gold on the draft. since we're talking about crouse, his profile is the link. but there's a lot more if you click around the site a bit.
HOW GOOD IS LAWSON CROUSE? | OilersNation
Great info, thanks awaz! Pretty much reinforces my previous thoughts - assuming the top 5 are off the board, it should be between what's left of Barzal, Werenski and Provorov. I know some are thinking the Flyers already have a number of good defensive prospects, but the fact of the matter is that Hockey's Future just rated Sanheim as the Flyers best prospect - at #49. That's not encouraging.

I just thought of it
I know I've talked about trading Mark Streit and I think a team that would be a good fit would be Montreal: He played there in the past and they need lots of help on the power play - that was one of their issues - with Jeff Petry walking, he might be a good fit - I know they have some younger guys there but I think that would be a fit
Flyers aren't winning anything of significance next season and I bet they could probably find someone in FA on a cheaper value deal that could provide them some offense from the blueline - I would be stacking up the picks if I'm the Flyers
Is Petry walking? I thought that Habs were already trying to lock him up.
Part of me would like to trade Streit and get value, but we really should have a few decent vets around so the kids aren't thrown into a fire.
Yeah I think Montreal will do everything in their power - they're letting Gonchar, Weaver and Manny Malhotra walk so that will clear some cap space
I get both points and those are legitimate ones at that - I just think if they can pull the trigger and get some really good value for him in a trade now, why not do it? I'd rather trade him now than have a risk that he falls off(not saying he will but you never know) and then he's untradeable for the next two years and they're stuck with him and he blocks one of the young guys from getting a spot in the top six
I really like what he brings to the table too, I just think they have to maximize their assets right now - it's kind of like the Scott Hartnell situation except in this case, the Flyers really can get good value for Mark Streit - neither one of these players are realistically going to be the difference between them getting a deep run and not - the most important thing was what you mentioned about having veterans around the young d-men, but as I said earlier, they can always find value guys in FA(they did that with MDZ and Nick Schultz) later on after teams overpay like hell on day one
It's something I'd definitely consider. We could probably get away with retaining some salary if needed. Just not sure Hextall will sell that much. We are certainly not winning any Cups, but with a good coach we could possibly see the playoffs during this retool. Streit would be a big part of that and I don't think we can get someone as good as him in FA for that cheap.
Brock Boeser is a UND commit who could be around for the Lightning pick.
reading about him, seems like a Jagr-style player with less playmaking and obviously less refined/skilled. But that seems like the type of player he is. big body, puck protection/posession, shoot first type guy.
He is a name I have thought of before. I am probably just streching here, but now that we have a good UND connection maybe we'll see our scouts leaning towards former Hakstol commits.
I hope that doesn't factor in.
1. In all honesty, there's like a 15% chance Hakstol is still the coach by the time Boeser (if he's the pick) makes the Flyers. NHL coaches have a super short shelf life.
2. Hakstol was recruiting for college hockey, that doesn't necessarily mean he though he'd be a good NHL-er.
3. Hakstol won't be at UND to develop him. I feel certain college coaches at players desired locations, plays in to where they go in the draft. I think UND promoted one of their assistants, so it will be a similar grooming period, but it won't be the same grooming Toews, Oshie, et al got.
4. I would hope the scouts have the board pretty well settled at this point. Or at least very close. There's not much left of them to watch, a few games for a few players in the CHL playoffs is about it I think. To shake up a SCOUTing report based on the input of a COACH would be a little eye brow raising to me.
OMG...too much information to mind....updated the first post with some of the links that have been posted throughout for those interested. makes it a little easier to find them in cases of continuously updated reviews.
hope you don't mind @wbon22 !
I agree with you, just speculating for the sake of it. Though form what I remember the draft board still has potential to change a bit. In Flight Plan a bunch of guys got moved around right before the draft. Either way, you're right that he shouldn't be factoring in.
