of course guys are taken out of games for different reasons all the time- whether its their free throw shooting- or going offense/defense....OF COURSE if you are going possession by possession- and have bigs like Mozgov and Thompson with their defensive abilities you are going to make that switch--- my point was- that Love actually played very good D that game- and for the most part on the season- the numbers backup that Love has played D that is at LEAST average to slightly above...

You tell us how much you predict he's paid next year.
Then take some type of bet with anyone who thinks he'll make more.

i certainly never said centers are known for assists- certainly if your center had 7 assists a night that would be beyond strange--- but the BEST centers- even guys that are big and physical like Shaq- knew how to pass the ball, Marc Gasol- almost 4 assists a game, DeMarcus Cousins 2.8...even DRUMMONd 0.8 (which is almost 3x more than whiteside), Horford 3 apg, DeAndre Jordan 1 apg, Lopez 1.6 apg

With the exception DeAndre, all those centers are players you run offenses through. They are the guys getting doubled in the post. I wouldn't expect a center that the offense doesn't run through to get lots of assists. DeAndre is really the only fair comparison and TF12 showed his assists numbers which are not much different than Whiteside.

Tyronn Lue is helping Kevin Love remember just how good a player he really is

Since taking over for Blatt last week, new head coach Tyronn Lue appears determined to address that failure. In five games at the helm, Love is averaging 19.2 points and shooting 50 percent from the field, a significant jump from the 16 points on 42 percent shooting he was averaging under Blatt. It's no surprise Cleveland has won four of those games

The biggest difference under Lue thus far is one Cavs fans have been clamoring for since he was traded to Cleveland last season. Love's favorite spot on the floor in Minnesota was the elbow, the area on either side of the foul line. From there he could easily knock down jumpers, get to the hoop with one dribble, turn and post or survey the defense and hit open cutters and shooters. And yet, Blatt never seemed comfortable giving Love the ball there.

Lue has already made an effort to change that. Since Lue took over, Love is averaging 5.6 elbow touches per game, compared to 3.8 under Blatt, per NBA.com. Love is also shooting much more frequently once he does get the ball there

WIGGYRUSS: he tries to fill the stat sheet with blocks at the expense of playing fundamental defense from what I have read.

TURNUP: Pretty accurate, and it usually costs him 1-2 stupid fouls per game.
Thing is, he's basically played just 1 NBA seasons worth of games, so there is plenty of time for his game to grow/improve.

in a league where spacing is more important- where defensive versatility and being able to switch and guard the perimeter is so much more important, Whiteside is a center from 20 years ago- he clogs the lane not only for the other team- but YOUR team as well....you cant possibly play another big man with him that cant stretch the floor...

If you sign Whiteside- you are saying- I want to be play like the Grizzlies- with him as a focal point- but HE CANT PASS either!

he would be a great ancillary player- but i dont see how in todays modern day it makes sense to pay this guy franchise-like-money when he will basically make you change the entire way you play the game to a way that has waived bye bye to the NBA....

if you guys had Tristan Thompson instead of Whiteside your offense would run a LOT better. Dragic would love it. On defense- the versatilaity and switching that Thompson brings- would fit right int your style of defense

Whiteside just doesnt fit into modern systems- if you cant get out and show hard on the pick and roll and get back- your gonna have a problem in the modern NBA- if you cant get out and guard big men that can shoot the 3- y our gonna have a problem in the modern NBA.

If you cant shoot outside of 15 feet, you better be the only guy like that on the floor because if not all your gonna do is clog the floor.

And the thing is ok- say you want to play that style- its not like you can throw it into the kid and say- heres 20 touches- because A. he cant pass and B. he cant finish in the post.

I absolutely love the way you just completely ignore the article listing Whiteside as the best Defensive player in January and the Heat defense incredible numbers when he was on the floor compared to when he was off. You clearly got something against Whiteside
