I'm always careful to treat Windhorst articles with a grain of salt... but this comes off as measured, careful, and fair... though ultimately just his opinion from what he (Windhorst) observed.
As much as everyone wants to put the complete onus for the lack of a good relationship between coach and players 100% on LeBron (understandable to some degree due to his role as leader).... there were at least 16 other individuals with some responsibility in the failed relationship, including Blatt.
Ahh, that's what that is? Thanks for the tip!You should have the ability to edit posts for 5 minutes after each post. It shows as a pencil in the lower left hand corner under your avy. If it's not there, you may not have enough posts yet.

I always wondered how a post that I just read would be different after a few minutes had gone by.
A Beasley sighting!!![]()
Well then obviously he wasn't coaching, he was assisting which is what his job was at the time.well obviously he couldnt institute his own systems- if he could we would already have those sets for Love in training camp...i cant wait to see Love playing a little more with the 2nd unit and running things from the elbow....should be fun!
Its already been fun watching them run a little more- i think itll hurt their defense in the short term because of their conditioning- -- but they got a lot of easy baskets in transition yesterday..lets hope it continues!
More pace with LeBron and Irving- and Love will typically be the trailer drilling 3's on the break- AND he will be the focal point of the 2nd unit....its ognna be fun....it might hurt them in the short term a little bit getting all this stuff instituted but itll be good long term!
I can agree but we don't know what was said to Blatt from the FO once LBJ agreed to go back to Cleveland. I am more inclined to believe they would tell Blatt to "stand down" for lack of a better term- when it came to communication with LBJ-especially in front of the other guys. I just can't see them warning LBJ to take it easy on Blatt though & asking for his patience while he learned how to coach in the league.Blatt definitely has his role in this whole ordeal too. He immediately deferred to Lebron instead of trying to win over the team in general. That was his mistake. If you already know your superstar doesn't buy into the system, especially one that thinks he knows more than you, you don't try to win him over. You win over the other guys. You make it so that the team rallies and can convince your star to change his position.
As a coach your job isn't just to manage minutes, rotations and game plan. It's about managing egos as much as anything else. When Blatt didn't criticize Lebron in film study, that showed the rest of the team that they are beneath Lebron. The team isn't going to take that out on Lebron, they're going to take it out on the coach. When you don't clearly define roles to the Veterans, they're going to get upset.
Blatt's biggest fault is his communication with his players.
