Nice deal. I just wonder what they're going to do with Bobby Ryan? I have a hard time believing he's going to sign an extension in Ottawa. The Devils will have over 20M coming off the books at the end of the season. I know he grew up a Flyers fan, but I'm sure Lou will have interest in bringing Bobby Ryan home.

The word right now is that Ryan is actually pretty close to re-signing.

He's said several times that he wants to stay. Hopefully they can work something out soon. The two sides have been talking extension within the last week or so.

We'll see how it all shakes out but if it becomes clear that he won't re-sign, then they move him at the deadline.

I would love Bobby Ryan in Calgary, but he can't spell I-N-T-E-N-S-E, so it's not going to happen.

Today is Ryan Johansen's birthday.

A contract and a nice commemorative pen would be a great gift.

How about an offer sheet?

:bolt:

I'm still laughing about the last one the Flames made. If the Avs didn't accept it any team could have claimed O'Reilly on waivers and the Flames would have had to pick up half the salary. and have also had to give the Avs a first and 3rd as compensation

Should have known this from the Glenn Anderson Canucks signing (claimed on Waivers by the Oilers ) in 96

Probably the main reason Feaster got canned - Jay should have checked with the league first (I believe the phrase is "due diligence") to get their intrepretation before going ahead with the offer sheet submission.

@FriedgeHNIC: Highlight of morning so far: Canadiens fan rides up escalator. Q: Has Subban signed yet? A: No. Q: "Bleep," promptly goes down escalator.”

That's funny.

Also, there's this from Bobby Mac:

Negotiated settlement between PK/MTL can occur any time before arb ruling (within 48 hrs of hearing) handed down. Otherwise, it's arb award.

But then he would've had to put down the fried chicken. No way in hell was he leaving his priorities unguarded.

So just how damaged PK's relationship with Bergevin after he was just told that he doesn't deserve anything more than what Karlsson got?

The Winnipeg Jets have signed forward TJ Galiardi to a one-year, two-way contract worth $750,000. The 26-year-old scored four goals and 13 assists in 62 games with the Calgary Flames last season.
