He's not very likely to lead the league in shooting percentage again though, and he's probably not going to finish 4th in the league (and 1st among non-Ducks) in on-ice 5 on 5 shooting percentage. Even if he stays above average in both those respects he's looking at the same kind of regression that Kadri had last year.

So I'd definitely be willing to bet he doesn't, no matter how much Kessel continues to carry him.

Hell, he's played full seasons before with two top scorers on his wings and never topped 50. It's less than a 15% point drop from last year's pace to get below 60 in 82 games (and that's assuming "full season" means he dresses every single game), and he had a lot of good luck and a ton of icetime last year. Think of it this way... if he'd have shot 13.3% last year instead of 21.1% he'd have still been 50% higher than the league average, but it would have cost him 7 goals and put him below a 60 in 82 rate.

Nice deal. I just wonder what they're going to do with Bobby Ryan? I have a hard time believing he's going to sign an extension in Ottawa. The Devils will have over 20M coming off the books at the end of the season. I know he grew up a Flyers fan, but I'm sure Lou will have interest in bringing Bobby Ryan home.
