LOL - an unarguable point
Hi, Harry!

I see the Flames signed Sam Bennett today to an entry-level contract. R-U happy with Sam as your pick? Or ... you had someone else on your wish list?

I was a big fan of Brassard's in his rookie season before he got hurt. He's a good player but this seems a bit steep for a guy who is 27 and hasn't got a single 20 goal season to his name.

Sadly though I think this is the going rate for 2nd line Cs who put up 40-50 points.

Agreed - he got overpaid - he's not a bad player but he's not that great

Bullet dodged.

Although, part of me would love to see Brassard walk into Jarmo's office and say "I should get 25 schmills".

Grabovski or Brassard? Similar deals, similar position at 2C. Who's the better signing?

Greetings Roamer , very happy in fact . The guy has natural scoring ability and plays with a bit of sandpaper in his cup. Gonna be a gooder:suds:

Yup ! He also by signing it , with them , has formally accepted that from here on in he IS a back up , regardless of Club. I doubt he has the mental acuity to see that , but so it is.

Maybe Bennett will be a great surprise and earn his way onto the team in training camp, but my personal choice would be to send him back to junior for one more season.

Here you go, you are onto something. Especially since poo poo pouliot just walked to Deadmonton for 4.5 schmeckels a year. Market is haywire.....overpaid yes, but relative in the sense he could have gotten more hitting Free Agency, obviously. Isnt there a certain guy in Toronto making $6 million sheckels???

Signing that has me scratching my head is Tanner Glass? How did he become a priority at 1.5 mil a year?

I wouldnt go that far. It is highly unlikely we make ECF again this year. Sather got lucky with the journeyman signings for cheap but I doubt he has that kinda luck again. Sather is also assuming JT Miller, who has tons of trouble adjusting to the NHL level, will be his #2 center going into this seasons camp? If he fails to show up, then what? Brassard #2, Moore to #3 and someone else from the depleted Wolfpank ranks to come up and play 4th?

Going to be an interesting camp in Greenburgh NY this September.

Sather is playing with fire. Everyone is talking and rumors are circulating about this cap going up next year. But by how much? It did not go up by as much as everyone thought for this coming season so I have some trepidations regarding how far it goes up next season.

Given what the market is for a 2C, it seems like it's not that far off. Rangers gotta watch their cap at this point.....they need a few more pieces and are almost at the ceiling.
