Lupul can produce almost as well with Kadri, if Randy keeps the two together and allows them to develop an understanding.

I agree with moving Bozak, but I'm still yet to hear one realistic idea anywhere of how the Leafs could possibly get a true 1st line centre (Kadri isn't one) trading any of the pieces they currently own save Rielly.

Lupul should have been long gone by this point. He's not going to be part of the next winning Leafs team, and he probably had some real trade value. No doubt they fucked that up.

Um, have you seen this team? They're pretty much one Bernier or Kessel injury away from drafting a first line centre.

"Kadri isn't one"... probably not, but he's a better fit there right now than Bozak is.

Did you watch the games where Kadri skated with Kessel and JVR in December (I think)? It was miserable.

It was what, all of 10 games? Do you think that Bozak and Kessel have never had a bad 10 game stretch while playing together? And even so,

5 vs 5 Kessel with Kadri last season: 0.935 GF/20, 0.868 GA/20

5 vs 5 Kessel without Kadri last season: 1.036 GF/20, 0.902 GA/20

Definitely doesn't look that "miserable".

He was 4th among Toronto forwards in ice time last year, and he played only 89 of 1022 even-strength minutes with McClement. He had more even-strength time with Kessel (108 minutes) than he did with McClement.

...

Where, exactly, did you find stats that show how much time on the ice he spent with Jay McClement lol

Sometimes, the numbers don't tell the whole story. Yeah, the Leafs had 3 injured centres and obviously that is going to affect everybody on the ice, but that combo looked terrible out there.

I don't care how players "look" together as much as I care about team goal differentials though. You don't win games by looking good together, you do it by scoring more goals than you allow. And during an incredibly brief stretch where their line seemingly had problems scoring, they still scored more than they allowed. If they'd given it more of a chance I think it would have gotten better.

We heard this kind of crap about Grabovski too, that he couldn't play on the 1st line because he and Kessel were no good together. But in Grabbo's time as a Leaf Kessel's numbers and the team's numbers when he was on the ice were pretty consistently better playing with Grabovski than they were with Bozak.

I dunno. I didn't want to see Grabovski, Bozak nor Kadri centring the top line of my favourite team, frankly.

Didn't Fiddler request a trade from the Stars last season?

I think so - this is really interesting, it's gone a few different ways - didn't think they'd bring him back
