still think that using Ogando in the rotation will be bad for the Rangers in the long run. with his injury history while starting how many starts will he get in before he is back on the DL?

He could just as easily get injured in the bullpen.

As Ben Franklin said " do not anticipate trouble, or worry about what may never happen. Keep in the sunlight."

I bet he pitches more than 70 innings as a starter.

We were talking about Arroyo's GB/FB rate ... that's why I included the pitchers I did as a comparison.

My point listing Grimm was that only Perez had a better GB/FB rate the past two seasons ... and I bet while most here would rightly pick Harrison as having the best rate ... nobody would have thought Perez and Grimm were as effective GB pitchers as they are.

We'll see who the five starters are on 31 March ... my VCash is on Tepesch.

As is mine.

Honestly, the best thing Perez did was to stop thinking he could blow his fastball past major league hitters and start pitching instead.

but will he pitch more than 125?

125 is more than 70 by a lot. If I'm going into the season with the knowledge that Ogando gives us 125 starter innings and not one more versus 70 as a reliever, put his ass in the rotation.

I can already feel the arrows being slung my way, but does anyone here play fantasy baseball?

For me, it becomes almost a chore setting a lineup everyday, so I just set a permanent lineup and watch my team nestle into the middle of the pack. But DAMN is the draft fun

By your logic we should put Harrison in the pen too.

no i don't think that at all. i just think Alexi serves the Rangers better as a late inning reliever than as a starter. when he comes out of the pen he can let it all out for the inning or 2 he's called on to pitch while putting him in the starting role seems to put a strain on his arm.

but if i'm wrong i will admit it

We've had a fantasy league the last two years.

so i won't like any player or pitcher unless i get y'all's permission. i thought it was a logical move on JD's part when they did the trade.

Most of us wanted Garza and I do not blame JD one bit for trying to take the Rangers to the next level. So you were right there with the majority. Hindsight is 20/20.
