I want Byron Scott! Is and always will be my favorite Laker! I think he's got the capability to run an efficient offense, but bring defense into his style.

If the Lakers make a coaching change, they could certainly do worse than B. Scott. But let's not pretend he (or any particular coach) is the key. The key is getting healthy and getting some talent.

Also, he's had some mixed results as a coach. He's been fired from each coaching job and there have been rumors of player "mutiny" in at least 2 of his coaching stops.

i hear a lot that players get tired of his act after a certain period. don't know if it was him or the players he was working with...

I think he takes a "Pat Riley approach" to coaching and even with all of the winning, Riley's act was wearing thin towards the end of the Showtime era. That's why he left when he did. He wanted to get out before things started getting bad.

One thing with Riley is that he's always been smart enough to know when it's time to leave. He has done it at each coaching stop.

Today's players tend to have less patience which is why his act would tend to wear thin more quickly. But who knows, perhaps he has learned his lesson and would have a little different approach. But it does tend to be a bit of a red flag.

It's weird how he seemingly almost holds vendettas against certain players (Earl Clark, Chris Kaman).

Top 4 will do. I still see Embiid, Wiggins and Parker being 1, 2 and 3!

At the rate the Lakers are playing, they should make the top 4. They might catch Orlando and possibly Philadelphia. Probably a top 3 finish, however.

Yeah, why hasn't he been playing Kaman? What a mess this team and organization is.

Not sure what happened with Clark, but they clearly did not see eye to eye. It happens. Heck, word was that when B. Scott was let go in New Jersey it was, at least in part, over disagreements between him and Jason Kidd.

I think Kaman is more of a "numbers thing", not that Kaman has been bad, but statistically the Lakers have proven to be more effective with the "small ball" lineup than when they try to go big. Outside of Pau, their bigs just aren't big enough and skilled enough to matchup with the better bigs in the league. They've been getting killed with that.

At least when they go small (Wesley Johnson at the 4) they can combat an opponents size with speed and athleticism. Remember the Portland game and Aldridge getting tired having to chase him all over the court?

Milwaukee is uncatchable and Philly probably is too. Their current 15 game or whatever it is, losing streak is a thing of tanking beauty.

Orlando is very catchable. They currently hold a 2 game lead over the Lakers for the #3 tanking spot. The Lakers have an excellent chance to make up that ground as their next 4 games are all vs. OKC and San Antonio.

It's about catching Orlando while holding off Utah and Sacramento.

Hadn't heard any of that. Yes, this current roster isn't fixed to win. I can't stand D"antoni right now. 48 point loss is flat out unacceptable, that has to be the breaker for me.

Ride the rest of the season out and can his ass. If we're in a true rebuild mode, truly rebuild!

Quick update after that terrific win over OKC:

Basically because we were ahead of Utah and Sacramento, and Boston have won their last two, nothing in the Tank Rankings have changed.

The win over the Thunder was basically a freebie! :yahoo:

Crazy week with historic losses and some shocking wins. I thought they'd go 1-4. They went 2-3 and beat two teams I thought they had no chance to do. Bit of a break until Thursday. I have a feeling things won't go so well at OKC.

Yeah, I have a feeling that OKC is going to make the Lakers pay for their insolence.

Another nice line for Wiggins today with 30 and 8. Some nice highlight alley oops. Definitely back into #1 pick contention. GMs may be a little concerned with Embiid's back.

He was never out of it for anyone that actually knows what they're watching when a basketball game is on. I'm not singling you out but just commenting on that sentiment that's popped up. He and Parker have been the top prospects all along. The only thing that's changed is Joel Embiid has thrown his hat into the race. Wiggins is an elite level athlete with tons of potential. Any "no show" games this year likely have more to do with 2 things 1) Kansas (Bill Self) plays conservatively and 2) Wiggins just messing around cuz he knows he's going pro anyway.
