2014 Cowboys Draft Thread

My first story can't support an entire thread, so gonna dump one off stories and thoughts here

This sounds like a perfect candidate for one of those 7th round picks we picked up.



projects to be an inside OL, was supposed to be 3rd or 4th round material. Now will probably go undrafted as he will miss all of next year. I'd spend a late 7th on him so we don't have to fight with others for him in the UDFA game.

Torn ACL??? Sounds like he is right up our alley...Actually a 7th round pick for a guy to stash on IR for a year would be fine with me IF they like this guy...

we cant afford to use a 7th on him. we don't have enough of them




but actually I like the idea. Rather stash a 3rd rd. graded guard on IR for a year than just grab some scrub that we cut in a couple months anyways.

I would not mind using a 7th on the best punter in the draft. Our punter is very average. I think if there is a guy we must have after the 1st round it is Caraun Reid. He would be very disruptive and would not mind him in the 3rd. The other guy I really like is Billy Turner to play RT

With 6 7th rounders, it's a great idea if he's still there. Redshirt him this year, like SF did with Lattimore

I was joking. I know we have a ton of 7th rounders. I'm all for it.

The best part is when people do that and then tell us they predicted the pick...or two years later say how they were right for wanting a particular player that turned out to be good...

I actually have bee stuck on Donald as our 1st rounder for several months now. If Donald is gone then I want Shazier. I have also been asking for a punter since Mcbriar got hurt. Every year I watch the draft there is always a pick where I think WTF? Carter,Lee and Escobar were those picks for me for the recent drafts. The entire 2009 draft I think I said WTF abot 12 times. The 1st round of 2008 was right up there, Hated both those picks.

Damn, I have seen more than one mock showing Manziel falling to the Browns at 26 and and even 35. Cowboys possibly could pull off a trade with the browns.

Manziel isn't falling to #26 or #35 after his Pro Day. Maybe Bridgewater. I hope you don't mean you'd want to trade up with Cleveland to take Manziel

Not trade up. A trade down. If he falls we could draft manziel and then trade him. I would only do this if the better defensive players are already taken

Romo is our QB for the near future. Let's assume you think Manziel is a great QB prospect. Even with that assumption, knowing he isn't playing for a couple of years would you really want Manziel of all people and the distractions that will come with him sitting on our the bench for 3 years?

It would obviously be a circus. On the other hand the cowboys can't be stuck with guys like hutchinson,leaf,carter,etc when Romo is done. The thing that bugs me about romo is his age. He could start getting hurt. I disagree with many that say we should not take a qb in this draft. Many of the qb needy teams in this draft have been burned recenty by using high picks on qbs and may just wait until the top of the 2nd round to draft one.
