Yeah, at this point I definitely think that Matusz is as good as gone.

They should make the offer to Nick. He'll most likely decline and if he leaves at least they'll get a draft pick.

Read on Roch's blog today that the O's are working on a 4 year deal for Markakis. Really hope they can work something out here as I think Nick is a great on base guy that's a good fielder to boot.

Yea MLB rumors had that too. I would love for him to come back as well but I just hope we don't overpay him so much we can't sign other players.

O's offered Cruz a qualifying offer. I would assume he would turn that down in favor of a muli year contact.

Steve Melewski is projecting around an increase of $35 million in arbitration eligible salaries.

MLB trade rumors is projecting Cruz to get 4 year 70 million. Don't think they O's would come that close for him.

Only way I would expect that is perhaps if it's frontloaded and then whomever signs him trades him before he starts declining. But otherwise, I really don't see it happening but then again, stranger things have happened in baseball.

I'd like Cruz back but would be very weary of signing him to a $17.5 million deal for 4 years. It's very risky. At least if he does sign somewhere else, we can at least get some compensation back.

Careful, Cruz carried the O's the first half of the season if you recall. He cooled off in the 2nd half but was really the only guy who hit for shit in the playoff's. We need Cruz in our lineup or someone Cruz like.

If he could put up #'s like this past season for 4 straight years than I would absolutely sign him to a deal like that. I'm just very worried that he's going to tail off somewhere in that contract and be stuck paying him that much for lousy production.

"The Orioles made Nelson Cruz a three-year offer to remain in Baltimore before the 2014 MLB home run leader officially hit the open market, reports Buster Olney of ESPN (Twitter link). The Orioles now feel positioned to wait as Cruz explores his options with other teams, Olney adds."

They also say he's looking for a 5 year deal.

Wounder what the O's will do with Markakis and Cruz. There has been no rumors of them trying to re-sign Miller.

Everyone think he's a gonner? I know the Tigers will be throwing money at him. Would love to have him back though.

I think they'll focus on getting Markakis to come back, especially since he'll be cheaper and has been a mainstay in Baltimore. While I think that Cruz is sincere about wanting to come back, I think the money will ultimately win out over staying put and will leave for whomever comes closest to matching what he wants.

As much as I'd like to bring Miller back into the fold, I don't see it happening. I think that with all the arbitration eligible guys that we have that they're not going to spend a lot of money for relievers (or on the free agent market period in my opinion). By the way, did we even tender Miller an offer? If we did, I have no recollection of it.
