Gardy is AL manager of the week? How can that be? He didn't swing a bat or throw a pitch. He didn't win a game nor did he lose a game. It ain't like he's Bobby Heenan, or sumthin', where he can actually get involved physically in the contest by throwing a metal-chair into the ring or by tripping the referee. He's just a baseball manger, a short-order cook, if you will. Doumit was the "straw" this week, not Gardy. Sheeshhhh!

Might have to take it easy on Doumit for a while. His average still blows but hes been driving in some pretty big runs lately.

As for yesterday. Pelfrey still blows. That was only a matter of time. I know we are trying to save our bullpen from death but its time to realize our starters are simply not good enough to face the entire lineup 3 times. Either pull them or find guys who can actually do it because tihs is getting sad how every game we meltdown around the 6th if the pitcher makes it that far.

Interesting stat. We are 14-0 when we out hit our oppenents. Literally do not lose.

Problem is we have played 53 games. Meaning after todays win we are 10-29 when being out hit. 39/53 games being out hit is not good.

As bad as our club has been this year we are only 4.5 games out. As long as we can avoid those freakin' long losing streaks I think they can at least stay around .500 and be somewhat entertaining, it's time to bring Gibson up!

The potential is definitely there to hang around the .500 mark. Even before the 10 game losing streak we were around .500 and really not even playing that well. So many guys were under performing. The bats are heating up now. Doumit, Parmelee, Hicks, heck even Dozier are all starting to hit much better. Willy still hasn't really got going but hes at least hitting the long ball again so that is good.

Not sure I agree with that, the Twins have scored more runs than the Yankees have but we have let up about 40 more than they have, thats the difference in being four games under .500 and seven games over.

Only 3 teams in the AL have allowed more runs per game than the Twins have, Toronto, Houston & Baltimore, Toronto and Houston are in last place because of it and Baltimore scores enough to make up for it. The Twins BAA is .287 which is terrible, thankfully Houston joined the AL this year otherwise the Twins would be in last by a wide margin in that stat, the team just ahead of the Twins is Toronto who's BAA is .268

Also K/9 the Twins are last in the AL and it's not close.

YES, the hitting has been bad but it's still the pitching that's killing us.

I hear that! I don't know how much more I can take of Pelfrey. Gibson would be just the guy to take his place in the rotation.

As I have said before, I have never seen why we even signed him. Of all the crappy players we have signed in the past...this one made the least sense. Coming off Tommy John, bad and he's not young but at the same time not a veteran with any past history worth noting.

I get that we sent Worely down because hes still young and we want him to find his Phillies form. But it makes no sense that we would keep giving a guy like Pelfrey multiple chances. He has by far the worst upside of all of our starters.

The chances of him even having that ONE game of 7 innings with 1 or 0 runs is far lower than any of our other starters odds.

Hey fellas

Between work and family stuff, I haven't had time to watch a game since they ended their losing skid. I hate to jinx them by tuning in, I guess I'll just continue to not watch. You can all thank me later!

I keep hearing that the reason that Gibson is not called up is because of the looming free agency at some point.
Does anyone know what date he can be called up without counting as a year of service?

Waiting until mid June and the super two cutoff will mean the twins will save money in the long run with Gibson and he will only have three arbitration years instead of four if hes promoted earlier. I would imagine he will be up with the Twins late June or around the all star break...

Hey Buck

Walleyes are shallow, we caught a pile of 'em memorial weekend, 2 guys: 60 Walleyes in one day, it was awesome!
I haven't heard much about any three hour tours from down your way, whats happenin'?

That's what I thought the timeframe was, and since the Twins are the poster team for playing "money ball" I'm O.K. with waiting until that point to bring him up. In my mind it wouldn't really affect the end of the season result, but that fourth year of arbitration could be HUGH (sp?), since we are re-building for that kind of timeframe anyway.

I haven't been out in a few weeks since that 2-day trip down to the Dry Tortugas. It looks like I bought another boat, though. Put it this way, they got my money. I'm supposed to give it a sea-trial Wednesday but our forecast is steady rain for the next few days so I may not be able to see if it floats, or not. It'll be rain, and more rain, for the next 4-months but it usually rains in the afternoons and only for short, intense periods. It ain't that bad.

The shark fishing is red hot right now right off the beaches. It's amazing how big some of them dudes get and that they only eat a few tourists each year (jusss' kidding!) Seriously, the sharks really are right off the beaches and they do get big but they don't eat people down here, at least not since I've been here.

All I can tell you is that I really miss the kind of walleye fishing you just had. Cool, Spring weather, clean, fresh-water on a Northern lake and chilly brewskees in the cooler! Maybe I'll get up there again some day. You never know.

Later, bro!

I agree. Hugh indeed.. lol

Not to mention allowing Gibson to get his feet wet before the Twins are ready to make a legit run at a season.
