Yeah I've been keeping an eye on LNP. This year he's hitting .361 and has OBP of .451!
I'll admit that I always liked Punto. He was always dirty from head to toe, and gave everything he had. Has anyone noticed that we won when he was around, and as soon as he left,.......well you know the rest.

Pig Pen lives!

He drove me nuts at the plate and on the basepaths but I'll give it to him that he has a good glove.

Hammer - I see that you are an administrator. On some web-sites that becomes a perfect platform for censorship of people with opinions the mod doesn't share. I'll try you out.

Personally, I see Joe as a vastly over-paid player. I don't consider him a clutch hitter and for $23,000,000 I expect that from him. He's a pitter-patter hitter, a big Wade Boggs, or Tony Gwynn. On the other hand, he accepted a contract that anyone sane person would have, and Joe is a nice person as well. I look at players as assets, machinery, used by the team as a whole. The Twins paid way too much for this asset. It doesn't produce as much as expected and it's affecting their ability to buy other badly needed assets such as pitchers.

None of this is Joe's fault, however. He's a guy who walked into a baseball convenience store and hit the lottery. Man, do I wish I were him.

I am amazed that Jamie Carroll is catching so much flack this season. He is a role player who is fullfilling exactly what the Twins are asking from him.

I never thought of it that way in regards to role players, but I think you are dead on with that thought!

When it gets closer let me know which games you are gonna be at.........good luck with the jealous husbands, oh my it sounds like there is a really good story behind this one; Do Tell!

Jamie Carroll has been great. Anyone giving him flak is a dolt and probably posts on Fux. :)

How about that Aaron Hicks guy huh? Hits a home run, robs one from Dunn and then hits another!

Morny coming up big with all those RBI's. Dare we call it "clutch hitting"? :heh:

One player from the past I do miss right now is Carlos Gomez. Remember him? See what he is doing this year?

I sure do remember him. He was very exciting to watch and showed flashes of brilliance but he went into a funk and got dealt away. Sometimes young players need a change of scenery to get it going again. Carlos would appear to one of these. Good for him!

Who in their right mind would trade away Josh Willingham? We get him for $7,000,000 a year. Yessiree!!

Clutch-hitting is everything in baseball. Miggy Cabrera does it all the time. Jorge Posada did it all the time in the playoffs and World Series. David Freese did it for the Cards in big playoff games and WS games when they really needed it.

I got no problem with Morny other than his past history of streakiness, but that's just my opinion, and, more importantly, that was then. Right now Morny is streaking favorably. If he spreads it out a bit he could be the main-guy for the Twins this year. He's healthy again and that makes a big difference. He certainly has all the ability. GO Morny!

Hicks is super-exciting! I hope he becomes the real-deal for the Twins!

Buck, I agree with you on Morneau but not on Mauer. Justin has had a history of not being very clutch and more of a "1st half" player. Yes, 1st half as in season or games and then to a further extent collected RBI in blow outs for either side. Still, he's a great player and I enjoy him but he has had a tendency to not be the guy we need a lot. This year has been different so far. He's hot now but even a week ago his average was crappy but he had the RBI. Mauer gift wrapped a lot for him but he delivered.

As for Joe. I cannot disagree more. Nothing has ever really shown he's not clutch. He's been hampered by hitting behind inept guys. When was our last good two hitter/middle infielder? Move him up? Now no more span and we don't have a lead off. Can't drive in whats not there. RISP for his career...better than career average. Bases loaded? Yup. Men on base? Yup. RISP 2 outs? Best of the bunch. Joe delivers when given the chance. Would I like more power? Yes. But if hes smoking doubles like this I can't complain.

I am really excited about the future of this organization if pitcher like Gibson, May and Meyer can pan out. We know what we got for position players. Love Hicks and Arcia. Wait til they get comfortable.

Great post, 4242! I'm Just voicing my take on Joe after all the years of watching him. As I said on Fox earlier today, I'm glass 1/2 empty on him now, but who am I, anyways? I always gravitate back to the money he gets as my trump card. I strongly feel he's vastly overpaid and a drag on the Twins war-chest over-all. Of course, the deal is done and it can't be reversed, but that doesn't make it a good deal. Mr Ryan will not make this mistake again. No competent GM would. You can't pay pitter-patter hitters Miguel Cabrera's wages especially, if they can't even play all 162 games.

I am a Twins fan forever. I'll talk business about 'em but I won't tear them down personally. I don't roll that way. Good to hear from you! Don't be a stranger!

I agree he is definitely over paid but the deal slowly looks better when hes producing and as other guys start getting even more ridiculous contracts. Baseball is a joke with how much players get.

Thing that I hate is how Mauer and Morneau our home grown talent and the only people we have spent money on. We have plenty of money to spend, but choose not to. I just wish we would make a legit run at some big names. I mean the yearly signings of guys like Mike Pelfrey and Jason Marquis is getting annoying.

Team can't seem to get to 2 games above .500, we just keep hovering. I know Corriea hadn't allowed a run since the 2nd but I really question Gardy leaving him out there. Second time this year Corriea has folded in the 8th. Cmon Ron.

Yeah, I also remember the last time that happened with Correia out there for the 8th. It went about the same last night. Hopefully that will be a note for future reference. How does that saying go... Fool me once.. shame on.... Fool me once you can't get fooled agian!

That dudes got a screw loose! Talks to his bat, glove, and himself ala Pedro Cerrano.
He is having a good year though!

Nice leadoff double for Carroll. Maybe he can work for the leadoff guy. I didn't think it would be a good fit for and older player but he continues to surprise me.

Thanks PC, I didn't even realize it was a day game until I read your post.
Come on Pelfrey!
Lets take a series from the Chi-sox!

You know it! :suds:

Mauer singles Carroll to third. Two on for Willinghammer. Lets see a three run jack!
