I thought the Flyers outplayed Tampa tonight but still found a way to loose. Talbot was a monster tonight, and at least Lavy saw that and moved him up to the 3rd line and moved Cooter down. Flyers hit 3 post and just cant get it done on the road. 0-11 now when trailing after 1 period, and 4-12 on the road, trends that continue. Game winning goal because the Flyers forward collapse too low and leave the points wide open, when is this gonna change?

They have to win like 80% of there remaining games to get just 8th, there done. Tank for fuck sakes, and they are only gonna drop considering they don't play until sunday now.

Those stats are really telling. This team gets down and they essentially give up. To be 0-11 when trailing after the first is embarrassing and completely unacceptable. You have an entire two periods to turn the game around and we have the offensive abilities to do just that. What exactly has happened to the "Never say die" attitude that we expect out of our team? It's insane.

It's painful to watch on a night to night basis. Our players and team as a whole have seemingly limitless potential, yet they appear to be the most inconsistent group that I've ever witnessed. I still don't believe we've won more than two games in a row all season long. That's laughable.

At the end of the day, you make your own luck. If we would just go to work every night for 60 minutes, we'd have a decent shot at making the playoffs and having success from there as well. The thought of tanking hasn't even crossed my mind. That's the last thing I would suggest we do, even if it may be in the best interest of our team long term. I'd much rather try to win 12-13 of the last 18 games and get into the postseason. If the Kings can do it, so can we.

You can be pissed if all that you want is a lottery pick, and especially in the top 3

i would think that since we didn't lose any ground in the standings after a week off that you could reconsider. i want this team to win, the playoffs arent a pipe dream anymore, the teams ahead of us are not that good.

indeed. i always root for them to win, even if i want them to get a high draft pick. fortunately, the other half works the same either way. rooting for the teams below the flyers works to get them closer to the playoffs (teams above them losing to teams below them), and closer to the 1st pick (teams below them winning) :thumb:

i do too.. based on history i'm just skeptical.. but like you said, the teams just above the flyers are not really a daunting task though

beating the rangers without grossmann and possibly coburn (suspension?) would be a daunting task though

also, for everyone who doubts the flyers ability to play defense, they held the pens to two goals, one of which was a 5 on 3, without grossmann last night.. who has been their best dman this year.. granted, bryz played very well, but the defense was still very good last night IMO

everyone else is packing it in apparently. a top 3 pick doesnt make a difference next year if we get a dman, so i don't know what the big deal is.

I'm not packing it in, but still trying to be realistic. Top 3 pick will not help next year...that's true. That's not a a good reason to not want one though. Top 3 pick will be very helpful to us in the future. I'm just looking at the big picture.

i think we are being unrealistic. have we not learned how this team operates? we are not on a long term plan, snyder doesnt have a long term future. i don't want them to trade anything right now, but i don't want to hope they lose and get a top 3 pick either. this team has the talent to make a run, they really do, it is just a matter if they can all get going at the same time. last night was the best game i have seen them play in a month. if simmonds doesnt take that ridiculous penalty we win.

This is where I disagree. They have the talent to make a run...just not one at the Cup, imo. They can't even win more than two games in a row. I know how the Flyers operate like you mentioned but that's also why they haven't won a Cup in 35+ years. I guess I'm foolishly hoping they will change.

***Now if the Flyers squeak into the playoffs and win the Cup I will be happier than you could imagine, but the I think the far more likely scenario is they squeak in and get bounced in the first round.

I wouldnt mind having a top 3 pick either but i would rather get in the playoffs and make a solid run. We are too good of a hockey team to get a top three pick so i wouldnt expect it even if we dont make the playoffs. If Bryz can play like he did last night we may be able to get a spot and make a run .

We will face Pitt in a first round scenario and we could knock them out and get some confidence going and who knows.

i still say pitt is the ideal matchup for the flyers, same as it was last year. if the flyers were to make the playoffs, i would not be scared of the pens at all.

Right, but what happens after that? Hopefully, the Flyers don't have a play a defensive team or any one that plays even a mild version of the trap.

After that maybe we get luck and play the winner of the Southeast division and maybe knock off Winnipeg or Carolina
