he's rarely ever right when he mentions players from both sides, however, he does get a lot of these right, eventually..

rick nash will be traded
parise and suter will sign somewhere, maybe together, maybe not.
mats sundin will sign somewhere
kaberle will be traded

but after a few years of watching trade deadlines and free agency closely, it's pretty easy to make those types of guesses. if they're going in to free agency and the team isn't in contention, good chance they're moved. and there's a good chance they're moved to a team who is in contention, for draft picks and prospects. and free agents are going to sign with teams that like to spend money.

he's basically made an entire site (and probably a lot of $$$) off those couple of facts, just regurgitated league wide. i bet the dude doesn't even have his own contacts, just his writers who have contacts (a la meltzer)

Geez. My blood pressure was going ballistic at the end. Bad penalties nearly cost us the game. Our guys were exhausted from the 5-3. What was Talbot thinking? Great game boys and great heart. What a great way to end this road trip. Now we are in striking distance of moving up in the standings. I think we are tied at the 8 spot.

I honestly think Bryz was a lot better than the stats say. Not his best game, but better than what you would think at first sight.

The one thing that pisses me off about this team is I hate when they try to stand back and protect the lead. It backfired again. We have. 4 minute PP to put the dagger in their back and we just turn the puck over. It was like they wanted to lose this game. Bryzy was good although his stats show otherwise. This team is not meant to protect the lead. It is obvious. Great win boys.

Some things never change Flyers/pens get into a stupidly entertaining shoot out and fans from the west actually hope for 1-0 OT games and j e r k themselves off to it??? Guess both came away happy tonight....although its just unfathomable how a team could manage so many ridiculous penalties in the last 7 minutes of a game that they're leading by 2 and still end up winning it. Good thing they're getting Harts and eventually Mez back.

How can crosby continuesly get away with clear cut penalties...I shouldn't even ask anymore but I guess who cares good guys won and have a nice long homestand to get back into things.

second bolded statement, I thought that I was the only person to wonder how a guy can just go around and hook and hold and do whatever he wants to put himself in a better position or take pucks away. Malkin to a lesser extent but when our defenders are coming out of our end its like going through a maze of hooks with these guys.

When I was in high school we had a kid who was way better then everyone else playing at the time on a rival school. He was known for his Crosby type antics(hooking, holding slashing away from the play) but he would turtle if anyone tried to engage him. So one time tine a meaningless game since we had already clinched a spot in the Flyers cup tourtament(big thing for those who don't know). I instructed my team that every time he does something like that that they were to either slash his ankles/wrist as hard as possible, turn around and spear him in the gut or just grab him and start throwing punches. We took a lot of penalties in the first period but he was still doing his same dirty shit. So off the opening face off in the 2nd I purposely missed the puck put a nice strong upswing into his crotch and when he cross checked me I grabbed him drug him over to the front of his bench and beat him bloody to the point where he was defenseless as he fell(I stopped hitting him at that point). The kid never did any of his cheap shit again and was still way better then everyone else in the league.

This is really unfortunately the only way to deal with those type of players, you have to target them to the point of trying to hurt them and be willing to lose a game by a wide margin to even stand to make a point. Plus with a 30 team league(well 15 this season) unless it's a policy adopted by all team participating it won't work.

However I do think there has to be a way to address this particular problem because it seems that the Pens( Cindy & Gina) in particular get to benefit from a more lax interpretation then the other 29 teams and that gives them an unfair advantage night after night. Possibly through the NHLPA board?
