To be honest, we just need 4 players:

1. Resign Uribe to a 1 or 2 year deal. We need him to hold down 3rd base for Seager.
2. Resign Nolasco. He will be our 5th starter. He did a great job pitching for us.
3. Sign Alexander Guerrero. He is a young player with power and will address 2nd base for us for years.
4. Sign Masahiro Tanaka. This will be hard to do given the fact that he will be the best pitcher on the market and will command a large salary. That being said, we would have the best staff in baseball and would be the favorites to go to the World Series. Pitching wins and we would have the best staff period.

The Dodgers also need to replenish the bench and the BP. League, Marmol and Belisario need to go. Hairston is retiring and there should be some decent bench players available during the off- season.

I don't believe Nolasco is a given considering how he tailed off at the end of the season. The Dodgers also have to figure out what to do with Billingsley and Beckett. That should all happen at spring training, though Bills may not be quite ready by then. As for the bench, I wouldn't mind seeing Punto back, and maybe Schumaker. Young probably won't be re-signed. The Dodgers have the money to pick up some good bench help if Ned can get past his habit signing used up veterans. And then there's the issue of how to squeeze four quality outfielders into three spots (or trading one). The bullpen should be interesting. I agree the riff raff needs to be cleaned out. Elbert, Tolleson and Dominguez should be healthy. There should be some stiff competition for spots in the spring.

1. Uribe is a qualifying offer candidate. That's just crazy, but he's probably the best FA 3B on market this winter. So yeah, QO first, if he declines then you go one year + team option for 2015

2. Nolasco... Hard to say. He is certainly a 5th starter candidate but Bills and Beckett might be back. Insert "can't have too much pitching" platitude here. I'm not against bringing back Nolasco on a 1-year deal. For that matter, I'm also not against bring back Capuano for another year either.

3. Guerrero - Yes. This needs to happen and that fucker better live up to the hype. 2B is crucial.

4. Tanaka - I mean, who wouldn't want the best FA pitcher? I am not against looking into it, but I don't really see his signing as a priority unless Zach Lee is about to be traded. Remember, the Dodgers will probably be going after David Price next winter so, while having Tanaka would be nice, in a lot of ways it's overkill.

================

My offseason priorities for the Dodgers:

1. Clayton Kershaw needs a long term extension.
2. Find out what Billingsley and Beckett can give in 2014 and plan accordingly. I personally have not given up on Chad, yet. I still think he can be really good.
3. 2B in general, Guerrero in specific. Sooner the better because he needs to get his ass to Camelback Ranch now if they think he can be the starter in April. Remember, he was a SS in Cuba.
4. Extend Hanley Ramirez and make sure that he knows and is okay with the fact that he'll be at 3B once Corey Seager comes up in 2015 (here's hoping).
5. Re-sign Uribe to a team-friendly deal.

=================

My overall reaction to this thread:

As to the bullpen: I still think that League can be "fixed." Hopefully he can be a decent contributor next season. Like it or not, he's not going anywhere. Marmol - he's gone. I wouldn't be shocked if he got a minor league deal, but I really don't expect to see him in the big league bullpen unless injuries happen. I am in favor of bringing back Brian Wilson, but Christ, Colletti better not give him a 20 million dollar deal. That would be retarded, so of course it will happen. The thing with Wilson is that two pretty heavy hitters could be in the market for a closer next season: Cincinnati if Chapman moves to starting rotation, and the Yankees who will be looking to replace Mariano Rivera.

Without making any free agent signings, next season's bullpen something like: Jansen, Withrow, Paco, Howell, Dominguez, League, Belisario. There's also the possibility of adding names like Scott Elbert and Shawn Tolleson as they should be rehabbed by Spring Training. I would throw Chris Reed's name into the mix as well, but the organization is still stuck on him being a starter.

When it comes to question marks regarding Beckett and Billingsley, there should be a couple low-risk options available. Chris Capuano and Edinson Volquez might be willing to sign minor-league contracts with early-summer opt outs. Guys like that go along with internal options like Matt Magill and Stephen Fife. Also, Zach Lee can't be very far from his inevitable MLB promotion at this point.

Basically, I just don't see a huge urgency to add a big name for any of the Dodger's "holes" looming in 2014. There are cheap fixes to be had internally and on the FA market. Getting everyone healthy is the biggest thing.

Think about it. If the Dodgers only sign 1 free agent (Juan Uribe) and everyone is healthy, I still see them winning the division (probably running away with it).

Kershaw and Greinke will still be the best 1-2 punch. Ryu has proven to be a solid 3/4 type and he's definitely got room for improvement. If you have a healthy Billingsley and Beckett, great. If you don't, the gaps can be filled cheaply just like in 2013.

A healthy 4-man outfield of Puig/Ethier/Kemp/Crawford would be of the best offensive outfields in MLB.

Gonzalez is solid. Re-signing Uribe is a no-brainer.

A full-season of Hanley Ramirez probably gets more than a handful of MVP votes.

Still Mark Ellis as starting second baseman? Yea his bat is terrible, but the defense is solid and the options outside of Guerrero and Cano are abysmal. Mark Ellis is better than nothing.

Bench players? I'd like to see more Scott Van Slyke and Federowicz. Need utility infielders? Re-sign Schumaker/Punto if they don't retire, otherwise any one of the iffy veterans on the market will do fine (any combo of Kelly Johnson, Brian Roberts, Ramon Santiago would be fine by me). Don't want to keep Van Slyke on the bench? Maybe Michael Young won't retire and won't mind being a backup (doubt it). Maybe Michael Morse can be convinced to be a combination 5th OF / 1B Backup / Pinch Hitter (dreaming, I know).

TL/DR; There is no urgency to make major changes. If the Dodgers don't sign a single FA outside of Uribe and everyone is healthy, this team would still be favored to win the division.

I'm ok with all of this except Nolasco, don't want him back at his likely asking price...

Before we do ANYTHING else, Magic and Kasten MUST make sure to lock up Kershaw..period...end of statement.

I never thought I would say this, but I think bringing Uribe back is important for 1 year and then having him on the bench in year 2 since he can play both corner IF positions. Seager will be at 3B in 2015, maybe earlier (someone earlier . The deal needs to be incentive laden IMO, like 1 year 3 mil with incentives that can get him to 5 mil and a team option.

4. Extend Hanley Ramirez and make sure that he knows and is okay with the fact that he'll be at 3B once Corey Seager comes up in 2015 (here's hoping).

Seager is a 3B, not a SS. Han Ram will not need to move.

I think Young will come back for 1 more season and in theory could be that 1 year bridge gap for Seager at 3B if Uribe decides to get greedy. As for the rest of the bench, I think Schumaker will be back and I think Van Smash and FedEx will be there too. We will also have someone from the group of Kemp,Crawford,Ethier and Puig on the bench every day. So lets assume we have a returning bench of Young,Schumaker,Van Smash,FedEx and 1 of the 4 OF. That leaves 1 spot essentially. I say we would look at guys like Alexi Casilla and Ramon Santiago that can play 2B and other spots. And yes, that means I think we give up on Gordon.

Nolasco had a bad September, but he was lights out in August. I think bringing him back (again if the price is right) would not be a bad thing. Getting to choose between Ryu,Nolasco,Beckett and a healthy Billingsley for 3 spots will be nice. Although there are some intriguing SP that could be available that I like even more than Nolasco. If we are looking to spend say 9-10 million on Nolasco, why not spend 9-10 million on, say, Tim Lincecum! I know, pipe dream but can you imagine?

Only bullpen guys that will for sure be back in 2014 IMO are Jansen and Wilson. Let the kids get their feet wet. Get McGill,Fife,Rodriguez in there.

At the end of the day, with all the healthy parts we will get back in 2014 there is no reason to get dramatic with things. Lock up Kershaw, Lock up Alex Guerrero then fit the other pieces in and we should be right back the same place we are now next season

Seager is still at SS and the organization has made it clear that he will remain a SS until he is forced to 3B. He has the most value at SS.

According to the Dodgers website, while Seager is listed at SS they ultimately expect he will play 3B in the bigs.

I agree that Tanaka would be considered overkill but you cannot have enough good pitching. We are possibly going to lose the series to the Cards because we have an average #4 starter in Nolasco. I like Nolasco, but only as a #5 starter.

Keep in mind, we need to start thinking like a playoff team. We are not just trying to win the NL West anymore, we are trying to win the World Series. A rotation of Kershaw, Greinke, Ryu and Tanaka will keep us in any series we would ever have to play.

I don't want a repeat of last year in which we guessed on pitcher being healthy. Beckett is washed up and I think Billingsly will have a long road ahead of him. I am fine with Bills as a #5 if he can prove he is healthy in ST. Outside of that, I am not interested in slotting him in.

This Cards series is exposing alot of our weaknesses as our depth is average at best. While we don't need to have a billion dollar payroll, we need upgrades at various positions. Kasten and Magic have a tough offseason ahead of them. The worst thing we can do is sit on our hands and think things will get better. We need to continue to be aggressive and acquire healthy talent. Keep in mind that once the farm system is rebuilt, we will be able to rotate in depth. However, due to McCourt screwing our drafts the last 3 years of his reign, our farm system is terrible at this time.
