I'm seeing and hearing a lot of "Tigers in five" commentary.

Yawn

And in 2010 it was Rangers in 5 or 6

It's simply unknowable. Short. Sample. Size.

and ESPN drops this on us:

Gerry Davis will have home plate in Game 1 of the World Series and Barry Zito will be on the mound. That has generally been an awful combination for the veteran left-hander.

Zito with Davis as home plate ump (6 career starts).
Code:
IP	35 2/3
W-L	1-2
ERA	5.05
K-BB	25-25

-- ESPN Stats & Information

Davis has a tight zone, apparently. We've not had a lot favorable ump matchups in any of our series.

Now THAT's the kind of bad news that can really skew a SSS event.

And bring out my natural pessimism. Damn it all.

Now that's the "real" msgking talking. I like it better when you're throwing in the towel in May. Somehow makes the universe seems as if it has some natural state.

Squaring accounts with the jinx gods?

gp, for future reference, I believe Colin likes his name to be capitalized. Also, take off the plurality. All is Colin and Colin is All.

As for msg, I believe you and Colin are all good.

Have we already covered the facts that:

1. Our roster is unchanged from the previous 2 series (no Whiteside, Pill)
2. The rotation has been announced as Zito, MadBum, Vogey, Cain

According to Baggs Tigers were 26-25 vs lefty starters, so maybe Bum can do something. He got a long rest, maybe that will help his arm slot

And Timmy will be the supersub/long reliever. In some ways he is like a co-starter

Thanks for the breakdown. I would've liked to see Pill instead of Mota. With Timmy and Kontos, Mota is worthless. In fact, even without them, he may be worthless, but that is moot at this point. Of course, Pill hasn't seen major league pitching in a competitive situation in quite some time, but I liked the idea of him getting PTMFB-impersonation practice. Guess that's gonna be Nady.

I hope the Giants' hitters know that LF is being manned by tubby ol' Delmon Young in SF. We need to hit a few that way. Lefties, don't try to pull the ball from Verlander, stay inside the pitch (is that the term?). Righties, swing early

I agree. It's a headscratcher. Mota and Huff give us nothing. With Coke as the Tigers' closer, we could've used another right-handed bat on the bench. Oh well. In Bochy we Trust, right? Maybe Huff will give us a key hit and make us all eat crow. Maybe Mota will give us 3 scoreless innings. Which one do you think is more likely?

I think Bochy really believes in team chemistry, and he probably should. On the internet these guys are just names with numbers attached. Righties and lefties. In the real world they are people playing a game and the vibe in the clubhouse is as important as any other factor.

Is there any doubt that the Yankees were sure to get destroyed after Jeter went down? It's not just because he hits well.

The 25 we are using is working, they don't want to mess with it, and that's the right call.

Same thing could have been said about Cincy. They had more offense and deeper pitching.

Detroit has strong SP, weak RP, and 2 super-stud bats.

It will be a tough series, but momo is on our side.

Let's hope that the Giants are patient at the plate at get Verlander to throw lots of pitches and get to the 'pen as early as possible.

Almost correct .... Huff will give us 3 hitless at bats and Mota will give us a score-filled inning ....

Wait, you're serious?

Look, I love these guys, but they just don't play that way.

Yep. And that is ALL based on Verlander starting games 1 and 5. Funny thing, the Tiggers have to win 2/3 between his starts. Once Game 5 is done, so is Verlander.
