The TEX BP is far superior to LAA's. Without Downs ... even for 2 weeks ... they have lost their anchor and Fieri is not on an island.

It would be as if Uehara (who is still out), Ogando, and Adams were missing. With Isringhausen undoubtedly now elevated to setup ... they are very thin. TEX would be that thin only if it lost those three guys.

That was my point.

Thanks for clarifying, that was not clear in the inital post, left a lot to interpretation

Different subject ... with Feliz no longer in the mix in either SP or RP role ... I think this pretty much eliminates the idea of moving Ogando back to SP. Feldman is probably a lock on staying in the rotation.
*
The next question is after TEX got Dempster ... what the heck do they do with Oswalt? Right now ... I have a lot more faith in Scooter being physically ready to go 12 more times. Am not sure Oswalt can go next time.

As long as they go to a 4 man rotation in October again I don't really care what they do for the rest of the season with the #5 spot.

I can't watch them play while I'm in Virginia. I have to go by standings and homerism. RYAN DEMPSTER WOOOOOOO!

Well to be fair, everyone has been dogging their play since they cooled off from their hot streak to start the season...yet here we are, still in 1st.

still in first, but that can be deceiving bc the lead was 10, now it's 3. and the angels just picked up greinke. this lead is dwindling fast. so im not sure how much longer everyone will be able to claim the "we're still in first" argument.

"fast"...

lol.

When did the Rangers have a 10 game lead?? Perhaps you mean on just the Angels? Who were 9 games back at their worst point at the end of April.

So 6 games in 3 months?

Thats Rocket speed batman!

:burt:

Not to mean to continue my YT rant at all ... but we can learn from how TEX acted and apply that to MY's future.

It was my contention that since YT was not a part of TEX 2013 plan ... and wasn't contributing to 2012 wins that he was dispensable if nothing more than to provide TEX a 2013 option given that Napoli is a FA too.

So ... YT is gone when his value dropped with his performance and future value dropped below replacement value.

Now ... examine MY ... performance and future value going into 2013 due $16MM.

Option A ... Does TEX just let him run off the end of the tracks at the end of 2013 and present him with a watch?

Option B ... Or do they do something as early as the end of 2012 to move or release the team's historical leader?

I could see a 2012 roster without Hamilton or Young ... Profar installed at 2b ... and Kinsler taking over the "face" roster spot with quite a bit more performance potential than his predecessor.

If there is clear value of doing B ... then clearly A is not an option at all. With Hamilton and Napoli potentially gone at the end of 2012 ... it may make clear sense to make a clean break and move or release Young at the same time.

alright smart ass, yes it was a ten game lead at one point. 2 games dropped in 2 games is pretty fast imo. the month of may was when they had a 10 game lead, at one point. the fact the greike pickup hasnt really had time to effect yet is also a bit scary

abreu was dfa'd by the dodgers. he wouldnt be a bad bat to have off the bench, although, i think a right handed bat is more of a pressing need for the rangers

I would bet $ that Young retires as a Ranger. We will likely have to live with option A.

the month of may was when they had a 10 game lead, at one point.

Rangers did not have a double digit lead on anyone until May 27th. On Seattle. The 4th place team in the division. 10 games.

Furthest the Angels got in the month of May - 8 games back. A's - 9 games back.

Furthest the Angels were back this season... came in April. April 26-30 they were 9 games back....and in last place.

May 26-28 is when the Rangers have held their largest division lead...6.5 games. On the 2nd place Angels.

"The issues is something that I think Josh would definitely have to be the one to expose. It's certainly not physical. It has nothing to do with injuries. Josh is the one that made the statement and got all the inquiries going, and I think Josh is the one that has to put a rest to the inquiries, not Ron Washington. I can just tell you one thing: It is not because he's hurt."

Really am intrigued....

Really am intrigued....

He gave up dipping/chewing tobacco right about the time he started slumping, which I applaud and its a health choice thats his to make and NO ONE to question, but the 2 seemed to coincide fairly nicely
