How could they have been so spot on with the draft last year and then fail so miserably this year? Aren't these the same talent evaluators as before? I wonder if there has ever been a team in NFL history besides the 49ers where not a single draft pick cracked the active roster during the season?

Jenkins and Robinson have been active.

Don't even know who Robinson is and Jenkins has been a complete bust.

Saftey in the 6th rd IIRC. out of MSU.

Jenkins i think/thought it was one game of activity.

But look at the depth infront of Jenkins and LMJ.

I'll give you it was discouraging to hear the negatives about Jenkins(despite there being contradictions) during the offseason but he couldn't get infront of Crabtree, Moss, MM, KW(slot role/backup return man) and Ginn(primary return man).

LMJ had it worse with Gore(franchise?), Hunter(2nd yr guy who was playing VERY well), a newly signed Jacobs and Dixon who contributes on STs....

It really does speak to the depth as well as the team playing very well. we're not 5-6 or 7-4, we're 8-2-1.... we're a good team.

two factors to consider:

1. we drafted 30th which is quite a ways from the previous 7th, each round.
2. we already had a strong team. it was well known the only spot 'open' was RG.

for Jenkins and THIS season, actually prefer they use Moss, Crabtree, and Manningham more. they're more experienced and not playing bad at all.

for LMJ, i'm ok that we went with Hunter to date. but now we'll see what LMJ can do?

I'll have to give Baalke and Harbaugh the benefit of the doubt I guess. When I watch Jenkins, however, I think of Rashaun Woods.

Agree 100%. I don't think Jenkins can play in the NFL.

for me, not going to judge Jenkins till he has a good opportunity to show it. for all we know he IS good, just his timing THIS season was hard luck.

there aren't many WR prospects that would've cracked our starting line-up?

Harbaugh said injuries make it likely a few players who haven't been active lately will suit up Sunday. Probably AJ Jenkins & LMJames.

I would have rather Jenkins come in at the expense of Ginn not KW and LMJ at the expense of Dixon not Hunter, though.

But its injury related though. Get our boys healed and rested for the playoffs....

plus a good time to get the rooks in and see if they're capable. I doubt LMJ(despite my hope for 80 yard TD runs) will unseat Hunter if he plays well.

The only guy would be Jenkins IMO to unseat someon if playing well but that's at the expense of Ginn... however I'm not ready to bless KW back as a return man.

Same here. I don't want to see Ginn getting any snaps at WR. Hopefully Jenkins can step right in to the WR role Williams was playing.

Yeah, after Harbaugh/Seely benched Ginn on PRs, I was hoping we'd finally see Jenkins against the Rams. After KW went down it wasn't the way I wanted it to go.

It was hard not to appreciate Ginn last year when he was doing very well on returns and even put the Seattle game away with two TDs. On top of that he was contributing a little on offense with those gimmicky plays.

This year, he isn't doing much of anything on returns and that is being kind. And isn't contributing at all on offense. Pretty sure the 49ers won't be wasting a roster spot for a "return specialist" next year.

Also agree that losing Hunter just to see LMJ is sucky. That might hurt a bit, Hunter was producing very well.
