poe reminds me of dwayne robertson. won't be a bad player, but as a top 10 or 20 not much bang for the buck.

Robertson wasn't anywhere near as athletic as Poe. Poe would immediately be one of the 3 or 4 most talented NTs in the league.

And Robertson wasn't tailor fit for the 3-4 like Poe is. He'll take some time to develop, but once he does he's going to give opposing coordinators fits.

as the article says, poe's combine performance doesn't translate onto the field. robertson isn't as big, strong or as athletic, but robertson actually played better in college.

my take is that poe will fill a similar niche in the nfl.

Roundup of Tannehill interest
11:54AM ET
Ryan Tannehill | Interested: Seahawks?, Eagles?, Dolphins?, Chiefs?, Browns?

As we continue to debate the merits of Texas A&M passer Ryan Tannehill against those of current Cleveland Browns starting QB Colt McCoy, it's worthwhile to check back in on some other teams that appear to have interest in the Aggies QB.

Our NFL Insider Adam Schefter noted recently that while the Philadelphia Eagles appear to be interested in investigating Tannehill, he'll never make it to their spot in Round 1 (No. 15 overall). The Eagles -- along with the Kansas City Chiefs (who have the No. 11 pick) -- are set to hold a private workout with the QB this week, according to Peter King of Sports Illustrated, though as we've seen in years past, this doesn't always mean that the team is hellbent on acquiring the prospect in question.

In addition to Cleveland, K.C. and Philly, the Miami Dolphins (with Tannehill's former coach, Mike Sherman, employed as their OC) and Seattle Seahawks are believed to have some level of interest in Tannehill. And there's always the chance that some team with a stable situation under center could be interested in Tannehill as a longer-term developmental project. These teams would be unlikely to trade up to the No. 3 spot to grab him, but if he remained available into the teens, it would not be a shock to see a team like Denver -- who will need a new starter in another year or two -- to make a move. Given all the misinformation at this time of year, it's hard to project whether such a slide -- akin to Brady Quinn's in 2007 -- will occur, but things could get very interesting if it does.

Todd McShay
Tannehill or another QB at No. 22?

"The Browns, at No. 4 overall, are more or less the swing point in the first round, and what they do with their pick will play a huge role in how things trickle down the board. Cleveland is being tight-lipped about its intentions, but with Tannehill likely to be available the Browns will face a tough decision. They could be forced to choose between a potential franchise quarterback and three elite players -- Oklahoma State WR Justin Blackmon, LSU CB Morris Claiborne, Alabama RB Trent Richardson -- who all fit positions of need. All are realistic possibilities, but the real question becomes whether Cleveland wants to find help for current QB Colt McCoy or bring in Tannehill and allow him a year to develop. In the end, the answer could have less to do with Tannehill and how the Browns feel about some of the second-tier quarterbacks on the board. Cleveland also picks 22nd overall, and at that point will likely have its choice from a group that includes Oklahoma State's Brandon Weeden, Michigan State's Kirk Cousins and Arizona's Nick Foles, all of whom belong in the top 40 picks. Should the Browns get comfortable with one of those players, they could pass on Tannehill in favor of an elite prospect and target their favorite from the second tier at No. 22, even if it is 10 or 12 picks higher than he's expected to go."

The Niners' first pick
11:03 AM ET
San Francisco 49ers

Considered at one time to be one of the favorites to make an attempt at poaching RFA WR Mike Wallace from the Pittsburgh Steelers, the San Francisco 49ers have not made such a move as yet, and may not do so before the deadline on Apr. 20. So if they retain that first-round pick (No. 30 overall), will they target another WR instead?

It's one possibility, and ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter discussed that and another draft priority as well in Monday's mailbag column:

- Tim Kavanagh

Adam Schefter
The 49ers still could use more help at receiver

"San Francisco can't be sure what it has in Randy Moss and Mario Manningham isn't a No. 1-type wideout. So wide receiver is one need. And the 49ers also could use another offensive lineman with Adam Snyder signing with Arizona. Finding a right guard in the first few rounds would be good, but it's not like it has to be done at pick No. 30. The 49ers are in good shape overall, just need a couple more complementary pieces."

The Vikes' trading plans
8:15AM ET
Minnesota Vikings

While many suspect that the Minnesota Vikings will take USC OT Matt Kalil with the third overall pick in the draft later this month, there's a chance that they'll trade the pick, presumably with a team trying to secure Texas A&M QB Ryan Tannehill. But according to new insight from Tom Pelissero of 1500 ESPN Radio, there's a limit to how far down they're willing to move in such a swap.

In Pelissero's view, the No. 6 pick (currently held by the St. Louis Rams) is the lowest the Vikings will likely go. Based upon our earlier analysis of potential trade partners, that limits the teams potentially trading up for Tannehill to just one: the Cleveland Browns (currently at No. 4 overall).

To be clear, Pelissero isn't reporting this notion as a fact, and Vikings GM Rick Spielman and his associates may be more willing to move down further in the first round than the scribe believes. But, with each additional team that would hypothetically be picking ahead of them, that's another chance that they'll miss out on Kalil. In a sense, it's become a balancing act: maximize potential return with a trade while also securing the prospect that is most desired. Trade down too far and the plan backfires with Kalil landing elsewhere, and a big drop-off to the other OTs, a position of distinct need for Minnesota.
