A lot to post from here till the start of Pre-season. :-)

Initially I was thinking OT at #11, but as I've been watching more and more TV, can't help think we won't. Looks like both Campbell and Banks will be gone by #11, and I'm NOT in favor to trading up. Maybe Josh Simmons is worth the #11 even with his injury?

Anyway, take a prospect who's worth the #11, even if not an OT. Trading down a FEW spots is ok too.

Most (not all) 49er fans want an OT at #11, but after watching so many mocks to date, neither Banks nor Campbell seem to be 'sure fire' OT's?! Granted these mocks are opinions and not from legit NFL Front offices, but still most share the same opinion. Secondly, it is prior to all star games and the combine, so some of these guys may change their minds.

At this time my opinion is not to draft Campbell or Banks at #11, IF they are not viewed as a top NFL OT.

Next, I don't think its that easy to just move these guys around? Campbell has mainly been an LT since High School, so for we fans to just say RT or LG, isn't fair. On top of that, we will then EXPECT he plays well at RT or LG.

IF these guys are not viewed as legit LT prospects, rather we go with a Round 2 OT who has been playing RT. Even Round 3 if the value doesn't fall OT in Round 2. Josh Simmons may be an option but if he misses the off-season, we can't expect he'll come in week 6 and play like an all-star. He will essentially have missed year 1 if he comes in during the season.

Donovan Jackson in Round 2 seems an intriguing pick? He is a solid LG prospect and would boost the O-line similar to Puni.

Secondarily, he can fill in at LT in a short term 'pinch'.

I'm a HUGE proponent of drafting Banks at 11, even moving up to as high as 8 in order to get him. He's got the most upside, could play LG until Trent hangs it up, then slides into LT. We (hopefully) won't be drafting this high for awhile so take advantage while we can. This draft has only a limited amount of guys that can effectively be an above average OT, I count like 4-5. Meanwhile, this draft is littered with DT, DE, TE, CB, and S, all areas we desperately need.

Agree with taking advantage when we can, IF there's an LT worth #11, draft him. If the 49ers evaluate Banks as an NFL OT in our scheme, then draft him.

I've watched a lot of mock drafts and while some of these guys are not NFL scouts, there's enough consensus that Banks may not be worth #11? We don't want to spend #11 for someone who's a good NFL guard, he must be a solid OT prospect. Yes, he may or may not play LG temporarily, but he needs to be a solid OT prospect.

This seems to be the same consensus with Will Campbell?

BTW - I'm ok drafting Josh Simmons even if he misses Rookie camp, OTA's, and maybe even TC. His Agent said he'll be ready for Training Camp but taking this with a grain of salt.

Geez, after watching the SB its clear our interior D-line is far short. I'd expect us to draft an interior D-linemen at #11 or in Round 2. Then since this draft is deep at IDL, draft another one on Day 3.

I'd be fine if they draft another one on Day 2, but with other spots to fill first, don't think it'll pan out this way.

I like how the 49ers are NOT chasing the first tier of free agents. I like the concept of shedding cap cost and getting younger NOW. This roster is past its prime so it makes sense to "re-set". Unfortunately, we're not going to be a serious SB contender this season, but if you don't re-set now it'll just get worse year over year. The fortunate thing remains Brock Purdy, we don't have to chase, overpay, and then HOPE the QB pans out.

Drafting is huge every year but fortunately this draft has depth at the positions we need most - OT and DT. Seems like it also has a little depth at IOL? We SHOULD come out of this draft with solid prospects at these spots, even thru the 4th round. So make the right picks and this team will be a serious SB contender the following season.

I'd expect our higher picks to go heavy on defense, say 5 of our first 7 picks for defense?
