Suggestion -- next time can we put all of the hockey mods in for a vote instead of just 4?

Tox you really want that? As the rules said you can only get a vote in one category so if you get a vote as the best mod the people that vote for you can't vote for you in another category.

That's if I remember the rules correctly.

Hey Eloco, here is a suggestion. How about the 4706 Award? It is awarded to the poster who shows respect to his/her fanbase, knows his shit, and is quite humble. I would win that easily because I kick ass!

To answer a bunch of questions from the last page or so....

Automatt - No, the awards will not be named after the original award winners, they will all be named after famous Washington Capitals do to the totally unabated control and extraordinarily bad judgment of the guy who started them.

Tox - I actually became aware you were a mod BECAUSE of the Hookies. I'd never been to the Flyers' board (the opium den of the SportsHoopla hockey scene ) and you did get a vote for Best Mod, which confused me until someone set me straight. So, congrats, despite your short stint at the helm, you did pull of a vote.

Boss - We are not going to institute a "senior" category just so you can gobble up more awards you greedy a-hole!

4706 - Yes, you got a vote under Team Knowledge. Besides the avatar vote, which was all over the board, LOTS of posters got votes in the Team Knowlege category, often from fellow fans of their team who are more familiar with the work of that particular poster. I actually noticed that many of the Team Knowledge votes went to posters who were in opposition during the playoffs, who undoubtedly became more familiar with one another during a playoff series.

As a general note, I don't think posters should feel bad for not being nominated or not winning an award. I wanted this to be a positive thing for people, not something people should feel badly about.

I will note that the people that were nominated and won had several things in common. One, they posted a lot. Few people under 1,000 posts received a nomination. Two, they are by and large respectful posters who are courteous towards others and demonstrate a wide breadth of hockey knowledge, except for Boss and IPW, who are ranting d'bags that we all feel sorry for and received what are undoubtedly "pity" votes.

So, if you want to get nominated and win it seems the formula is post often, be respectful, and know your stuff. That said, there are tons of posters on here that do great work, many of my favorites were not even nominated, and the whole board doesn't happen without all of us. The award winners should be proud and honored, but everyone on here contributes and makes this community what it is day by day.
