am i the only one who feels like there is no way this should be allowed by NCAA rules?
For a player to walk on or for a father to pay for a player to walk-on? Or only the combination of them both? Or for a player to walk on after previously having a scholarship?
for the father who is paid by the university (and whose salary is set by the university) to be able to pay for it.
Sounds like a rule made just for this one particular situation. And then it also opens a loophole because you're preventing McDermott and possibly 2-3 other kids from walking on. Some players have walked on for their father because they weren't good enough to be scholarship athletes, should that not be allowed? I think one way or another there would be a problem with a rule meant to prevent this. I am surprised he wasn't suspended for the first half of the season opener because this is in violation of the "spirit" of the rule (like Johnny Manziel)
it just overall seems unfair to me, like essentially having an extra scholarship ("yeah, sure greg, let doug walk on...oh did we mention you get a $60k bonus this year?")
or maybe my hatred of creighton basketball is clouding my judgment
Doesn't matter. Tom's OTHER favorite team is gonna whoop that ass this year in Omaha. Fuck Creighton and FUCK all Jaysker fans.
