I'm wondering if Chirinos playing every 3rd-4th game is going to be the norm going forward. I understand catchers need a bit more rest than other positional players, and I certainly want Lucroy fresh for the postseason. But damn, lots of other catchers play more than Lucroy is getting to currently. It's too much of a platoon for my taste, especially considering how great Lucroy is at everything and how mediocre to bad Chirinos is. But what do I know?

That was one ugly 1/2 inning, but the result wasn't so bad. Other than the 33 pitches of course.

But he can't pitch deep in this heat.

Heat or no heat, Harrell isn't going to last long. And I know, I know he's a 5th starter replacement. But geez louise this guy can't throw strikes to save his life! Can't JD find someone, anyone, who has actual major league talent to fill in until Colby or Derek returns?

No personal offense to Harrell but if this game gets out of hand early (and I think it might) I say just keep him out there and let him eat a bunch of innings. We already won the series no reason to burn through the bullpen on a day like this.

He could have gotten Chris Sale if he wanted to. He wasn't going to give up the farm, he was looking for someone who would only be making a relatively small number of starts.
