How likely is it that NYJ are in first place after Week 7. For that to happen the Jets have to beat both Pittsburgh this week and NE next week, both at home. It also requires the Pats to lose at home to NO this week.

I've broken it down many times and people were quick to dismiss the Jets. They're not a Super Bowl contender but their D is fucking solid. There are 4 or 5 guys on D that without question are starting on every team in the league. There is talent there.

Powell has been a nice surprise and if Ivory can be the change of pace back like he was against Atlanta they will continue giving teams trouble. Geno, while not great, is enough of a threat and there is enough to work with there to make the Jets a very respectable team.

New O co-ordinator that seems like he actually has a head on his shoulders and Rex actually calling plays on D = solid coaching staff.

That doesn't seem too unlikely. Also doesn't seem too unlikely to me that they play the Pats next week for the division lead.

I can def see it happening, and I think it will. Jets Def is no joke at all. You cannot run on them period. If Geno stops fucking up, they have a shot at the AFCE. This is not the yr NE walks away with it. Trust me!

The AFC East definitely looks more competitive than it has in years. How in the world did the AFC get so turned upside down where the AFC West and AFC East look like the two powerhouse divisions and the AFC North and AFC South just look weak?

While that looks to be the case, a NE win over NO could put the Pats in a pretty strong position in the division, particularly if it were accompanied by a Jets loss to the Steelers.

I am not sure that I agree with that, cd, though I definitely agree that the AFCE could be surprisingly competitive. I thought that the Ravens and Bengals wins last week restored some credibility to the AFCN and I think that the Colts early season play is a pretty big plus when assessing the AFCS, where I think that TN is also a pretty good team with an unfortunate QB injury and I won't be surprised if Houston starts playing better.

I understand...I was just speaking more towards the idea that the AFC North and South have been the two divisions to dominate the last couple of years and some teams that were thought to be competitive at this point in the season look a little lost. I mean for me I am feeling pretty darn foolish as I picked Pittsburgh to be a Wild Card team and for Indy to not make it as I thought the AFC North might send 3 teams this year to the playoffs. Now I'm starting to think there is a chance that the AFC East and West could each have two teams. Just surprised I guess at how competitive the AFC is this year compared to at the beginning of the year everybody thought it would be pretty top heavy and have nothing else.

Definitely seems to be the potential for a lot of movement in AFC team rankings from last year to this year. The Colts and the Steelers are two examples of that change that I doubt few would have picked before the season started.

Patriots are still the best team in AFC East. Jets are playing great defense and are improving on offense. Might have a 3 way tie for 2nd.

Cleveland is the best team in AFC North at this time. 9-7 will win this division

AFC West is the strongest division in football at this time

AFC South is not weak at all, if you look at only the first 3 teams.

By mid-season, there will be a lot of teams move up and more moving down.......

If we beat the Steelers tomorrow, then we can talk about the possibility. Before that I will say LOL.

I never thought we were as bad as some thought.

The day I see some of these AFC east teams beat the Pats, that would be the day I would feel they could be contenders for the division, until then I consider it fools gold.

Ain't that the truth, I mean seriously? How many times have the Bills beat the Patriots with Brady at the helm? Twice?

Patriots 5-1, Jets 3-3. Patriots play Jets next week. What do you think will happen?
